Between The Lines is a London based drama series that explores the world of police corruption, racism and conspiracy. The story follows ambitious Detective Superintendent Tony Clark (Neil Pearson), who is employed by the Metropolitan Police in the Complaints Investigation Bureau. Tony and his colleagues are responsible for investigating corruption and complaints against police officers throughout England and Wales. As the story unfolds episodes highlight Tony's difficulties in his personal life and at work, particularly when he discovers that his colleague is corrupt. Tony eventually leaves the department and the story follows him working in private security and espionage. Between the Lines is a series that delves into the darker side of policing and gained recognition when it was awarded the British Academy Television Award for Best Drama Series in 1994.
