In Cold Blood is a crime drama, made for tv movie that was written by Benedict Fitzgerald, directed by Jonathan Kaplan and is based on Truman Capote's nonfiction novel that detailed the murders of a Midwestern family, the Clutters, that horrified the nation. While in prison Dick Hickock (Anthony Edwards) overhearing a fellow inmate talk about $10,000 he has stashed in a home safe by a prosperous Kansas rancher. When he is paroled he convinces ex-con Perry Smith (Eric Roberts), a psychologically damaged individual with deeply rooted problems from his troubled childhood, to join him in going after the stash. This heartbreaking true story intersects the Clutter family and how they lived their modest lives shortly before their brutal and senseless murders on November 14th, 1959. After Hickock and Smith turn violent on the Clutter family because they cannot find the safe they flee to Mexico. It takes detective Alvin Dewey (Sam Neill) several years to crack the case and bring these men to justice in a case that had no apparent clues, motives and suspects.moreless
