A pretty good episode dealing with Stan when he was first a US Marshall. He has a thing with the girlfriend of his first witness and gets into a fight with the witness. At the same time the witness was impossible and probably was responsible for his own death once we found out who actually killed him. His girlfriend turned to Stan for comfort and he was young and susceptible. Luckily his boss at the time understood the mistakes he might make and looked out for him.

Eleanor seems very dedicated to Stan and now we understand why. She is willing to go above and beyond to help him and Mary and she both seem to have a great deal of faith in Stan. It is Eleanor's work that proves Stan's is innocent in the end.

Jinx was missing from this episode but Brandi was there and trying to avoid her new acquaintance the multi-millionaire. She goes on a date with him and drinks herself into a stupor. As he puts it she is putting up barriers and self-destructing. In the end he comes to see her and asks her out again and tells her why he likes her and how she is acting out. Pretty smart.

Once the second body was found things looked bad for Stan but Stan's boss really comes through at the end and explains what happened. He went above and beyond for Stan as well and I am sure they will discuss his part in the burial of the bodies now that we know that the mobster that the comedian was hiding from was responsible. The 9mm slug was id'd by the authorities back East.

I enjoyed this episode dealing mostly with Stan and his former witness. The episode didn't have enough Mary and that was probably the one piece that was missing. Thanks for reading...moreless
  • Stan's first case is dug up (literally).

    7.5
I groaned to myself when I found out this was going to be a flashback episode as this is something that few shows (outside of Lost, of course) can do well. But for awhile it really had some potential, and I genuinely thought that Stan might be leaving. Unfortunately reality and common sense eventually took over and In Plain Sight delivered a boring and predictable turn that revealed no major wrongdoing on his part.

Not to say I did not enjoy this episode, and the show is so much better without Mary's annoying mom in the picture, but I think they really dropped the ball here.moreless
