It's amazing how in just fifteen episodes out of fifty or sixty, we're able to see Paul arrive at such a revelation: he is interested in Laura sexually and sometimes fantasizes her. The real question is whether or not this is because of Kate's affair or if it's been this way for awhile. For awhile, I was wondering why there was so much focus on Paul and Laura, but this episode was superb in tying in multiple plots with it. Paul's interest in Laura seems to be affecting the way he gives therapy.

I also enjoyed the fact that Gina mentioned how Paul seems to be showing proof that he wants to get rid of his patients. As subtle as it may be, it does appear as if he's trying to get rid of his patients and pass them off to Gina. All of these things together prove that Paul is as damaged, if not more so, than his patients. And I like it when we're thrown curve balls like this with main characters in a show or movie. Paul isn't a bad person because of this. He's a normal person.

Heading into the fourth week, it feels as if each of the patients is at a changing place. It should be interesting to see where they all end up by the end of the next five episodes.moreless

    • Paul: I'm angry at myself. For taking your advice. Even though... I knew better. Gina: My advice? Paul: Taking your advice like a novice. Like a naive intern. Ignoring every cell in my body, and listening to you, instead.

    • Paul: As a male therapist, sitting across from a beautiful patient, I... I know exactly... how to engage her. I know exactly what it would take to... to turn her on.

    • Paul: I don't get off on being worshipped by my patients, if that's what you mean. It's not like I'm in some kind of... some kind of a cult.

    • Gina: Now, you describe her [Laura], how you see her. Paul: I would say... a hysterical disorder of some sort... Gina: Don't analyze. Describe. Paul: Did you mean what does she look like? If one had to pick her out of a crowd, I'd say... Gina: No, if you had to pick her out of a crowd. Paul: God, you're such a stickler.

    • Gina: You're using me as your accomplice. Not in a practical way. But emotionally, to help you move on from them [your patients]. That way you're free to be with Laura. Paul: You know, I don't even want to say to that. I mean, what... are you doing? Is this what you call help? 'cause that's why I came here. I came here for you to help me. I keep saying this. But through some misguided line of reasoning, through some narcissistic... need of yours to save the day, to put yourself at the front and the center, we've ended up here. In this same place... just to confirm that you, Gina, are right. As always.

    • Paul: Anyway, last week, I, I got this, sharp kind of pain, so I went to the urologist on Monday, and I thought... Wow, this is, this is really scary. And then this random thought comes into my head because it's so cold in the room and I think my dick is shrinking and I don't want the doctor to think that, you know, that's the real size of it.

    • Paul: I fantasize about Laura. Look, it's like a gynecologist. It's easier for women to believe that their male gynecologist doesn't have any sexual desire for them. Of course, they want him to find their bodies attractive as well. Gina: Paul. Paul: Don't they? Gina: Don't break down the relationship between a woman and her gynecologist. That's the deep end.
