  • Sophie opens up about her parents and Cy

Maybe it's just my experience with shows and movies similar to Sophie's situation, but I find myself growing progressively more nervous about her relationship with Cy. The writing is very subtle and secretive with the way it introduces certain things to us, and the thing I was looking most forward to last week was Sophie's relationship with Cy and there's some good pay-off with it. You can tell that Paul is thinking there's some strange relationship between Sophie and Cy that could be sexual (a worst case scenario).

I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the back and forth between Paul and Sophie. I remember last week that I found this the least interesting at the time and that teen actors get on my nerves sometimes, but I'm forced to eat my words.. there was plenty of tension here and the episode sped by. It's a shame that we have to wade through four more patients to get back to her, because I'm hooked now.

I was also glad to see more of Kate. It's becoming more and more clear that Paul and Kate have issues and I'm glad to see the show continue to reference it even if it's not Paul's session.moreless

This was the episode where I really became ready to commit watching the full season. I think that this is where the show really begins to hit it's stride. Sophie becomes a more fully developed character. There is a subtle nuance to who she is - letting Paul in to her psyche ever slowly. She is clearly testing her relationship with Paul when she asks for his assistance in changing her wet clothes. He instead solicits assistance from his wife in handling the task. Is this foreshadowing a history of abuse at the hands of an older man, or Sophie's own sexual awakening. Only time will tell.moreless
