In his final meeting with Adele, Paul turns on her. She has made him explore his broken relationship with a former love, and she has led him through an exploration of the consequences of his indecisiveness. However, he feels like the therapy isn't making him more effective in dealing with his own patients.

Sunil's quiet sadness over the loss of his wife and struggle with his children at home have been his ongoing subjects of conversation with Dr. Weston. However, Sunil's behavior at home has become moody and erratic, leading Dr. Weston to deeper concerns about possible ramifications. In this episode, the doctor is shocked by Sunil's next move.

Sunil, a Bengali retired math professor hesitantly calls on Paul. In his sessions, he expresses his feelings on the death of his wife six years ago. He also disclosed his difficulties in living with his son's family and how his displacement to the U.S has affected him. Paul, however, does not appear to help as Sunil's behavior at home becomes more erratic.

Sunil - Week Five from the show In Treatment is about a recent widower, Sunil (Irrfan Khan), who travels from Calcutta to live with his son Arun (Samrat Chakrabarti) and his daughter-in-law Julie (Sonya Walger). When the combination of grief, new surroundings and resentment takes its toll on Sunil, the trio seeks out the help of psychotherapist Dr. Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne).

In addition to struggling with drugs, depression, and sexual confusion, Jesse starts a conversation with Dr. Weston about what it is like ot be adopted. He has always longed to seek out his birth parents, and Dr. Weston guides him through his thoughts about the pros and cons of a potential meeting.

Paul returns to see Adele again. He has previously revealed a sense of emptiness about his work and bitterness towards his ex. This time he comes to Adele with a splitting headache after having taken his son to a concert the night before. He begins to talk about his relationship with his son and reveals what his son found on his computer.
