i felt SURE there would be a lively forum for this show, and i find i am the first to post?  wow!  i was hoping there would be a thread for favorite guests, favorite favorite words/sounds/etc., even maybe a thread about how james lipton has gained a little weight over the course of the show.  (and as for over eight years... i've been in minnesota for nine, and i used to watch it well before i moved here....)

i am still kicking myself that i missed dustin hoffman.  hope they rerun it soon!

OK, I'll take a little adventure out into the wilderness here....
For faves I'd have to say, probably Hugh Laurie (but he's good in anything), definitely Kevin Spacey, Anthony Hopkins, and of course..........
Will Farrell as James Lipton, interviewing James Lipton. http://img.gamespot.com/gamespot/shared/emoticons/lol.gif?icon_symbol=

now that (ferrell as lipton) i'd have loved to see!

oh yeah, spacey.  i remember thinking, the first time i saw him (probably in an episode of the equalizer!) how much he looked like jack lemon.  so who does he tell lipton he emulates?  lemmon of course!

I must confess, I haven't watched this show since Mr. Lipton interviewed Jamie Foxx. And that was right after the movie: "Ray"...sorry!!

Yeah, I watch it occasionally, depending on the guest.  But I have a very limited tolerance for James Lipton. He's just too weird.

This show is brilliant. Lipton is annoying in the beginning but you get used to it.

I first caught this show a few years back when i accidently tuned into the Performance one Sunday night to catch the Robin Williams episode, after that i caught some of my favourite actors Eastwood, Hanks, Travolta, Samuel L and even the cast of Everybody Loves Raymond, i was even fourtunate enough to see the Will Farrell skit where Will was made up to be Mr Lipton then in return interviewed him, it then finished sunddenly but has now returned with a new series ( maybe new to the UK ) we had Ben Kingsley on last night, tonight it's the Simpsons cast, Ethen Hawkes tomorrow, Julianne Moore thursday and at the end of the week Martin Sheen, looking forward to Hugh Grant next Tuesday.

Would love the full season/series on DVD's

I truly love this show, and am always in a panic if I miss it. My favorites were

    Robert DeNiro

    Al Pacino

    Michael J Fox

Drew Barrymore (who I never knew was the God Daughter of Stephen Spielberg)

    Eddie Murphy

    Jamie Fox

and that's just to name a few

I generally like the older, more established interviewees. They always have such amazing little bits of wisdom to share, having lived through a lengthy career and through the interesting personal revelations that come with age. Two that come to mind are Barbra Streisand and Jane Fonda.

I think James Lipton is a bit odd as well but he is an exceptional interviewer. He has an amazing ability to extract interesting things out of people. Its also nice to be able to see actors and others in the industry, interviewed about their entire career, instead of just promoting their current projects.
