Episode Summary

Crime of Innocence
At thirty-two, Peter Carling has given his life to the service of the mentally retarded. He forms them into a community where they can make their own decisions and feel needed and loved. When they rent a house in a middle class neighborhood, the surrounding homeowners react negatively. They are afraid that the property value will plummet and that the lives of their children will be endangered. When one of Peter's group, Frank, is accused of watching a girl through the window, the homeowners decide to take legal action against Peter. Discouraged Peter wonders if God, who has lead him to this work, is not trying to tell him to stop. Sensing the problem he has created, Frank packs his clothes and slips out of the house. He is killed crossing a freeway.moreless
