Gadget broke many laws while in India, some secular and some religious.
1. In Hindu culture, cows are considered to be sacred. To touch one in the manner that Gadget did would be very taboo.
2. Though defending himself, Gadget knocked out one Bengal Tiger and threw two others out a window. Bengal Tigers are the national animal of India and on the endangered species list.
3. Destruction of private property while the owners watched and then he didn't even offer to pay for the damage he did.
4. Gadget also took his mallet to a statue of Shiva. Besides being a museum piece, Shiva is one of the three major gods in the Hindu pantheon.

India and Rubies
Rubies have a long tradition of being mined and worn in Indian society. They are considered to be the precious stone that represents the nation.
