    Do you think he's annoying or just misunderstood?

    Personally I think he's gay or close to gay.

    I agree he's probably gay, and I also think he's kind of annoying, specially for Sesshomaru

    Jaken is soooo damn annoying!!! He always follows Sesshomaru around and he treats Rin like s**t.  One time, he even stole tetsaiga(sorry. I can't spell for crap). I think he's gay too. I notice that he seems to flirt with Sesshomaru sometimes.

    Jaken is not gay. When animes have gay characters, they are pretty up front about it. Look at Jakotsu, or Fred from Outlaw Star, for example.

    ... Jaken is not gay. And he's a hilarious character! He's not my favorite, but he's up there. And I don't see why he'd be gay. He's loyal to Sesshoumaru and looks up to him (literally. ) And it's not like he hates Rin. I've seen episodes where Jaken was happy Rin was there. I think he just seems a little inferior or worried that Rin might take his place.

    It's like a child; when a new baby comes, mommy and daddy give mounds of attention to the baby, and sometimes, the child gets upset and feels unloved. Maybe that's what it's like with Jaken, he thinks Rin will get all of the attention that Sesshoumaru gave to him before. And Jaken feels like he's needed when he's with Sesshoumaru, and Rin might be taking his place. Just my view on the topic. I think he's just misunderstood.

    Jaken is hilarious, though his voice can be annoying, at times. I think that's why he bugs people.

    True. When he screeches, he makes me want to throw the remote at his face. Which is why I prefer the Japanese Jaken... much less like a bird. But honestly, his voice fits him...(in the English version, I mean). I couldn't see him with a deeper voice, or smoother voice, or anything else. Same goes for the Japanese.

    I think he is a bit of both. He is annoying with his attitude, but he will do ANYTHING for his master which can be misunderstood. This along with that we don't know that much about his past leaves us guessing.

    because to me, the leader has to look mightier than the rest, wealthier than the rest, stronger and more wicked than the rest... but all of them looked like Jaken... Each and every one was the same... so that's why leader is in "quotes"... If you put them all side by side, you couldn't tell which is Rin's playmate.

    And yes, he did. He was in awe at SS's power and whatever, so he pretty much said "Sorry guys, take care of yourselves from now on" and left. But you know, if one of the Jakens didn't know the real JA was gone, another one could dress up and he/she/...it? (they all looked like guys to me... Maybe they're asexual... ) could easily take his place and pretend to be the real JA without anyone ever suspecting... Hmm... come to think of it, I think they all had the same voice too...

    You know, I could go on and on about this topic.

    'cept that staff SS gave him... ...but that was after the "leader" thing. They must've hid all those years, and then when SS came by...they emerged. Actually, JA emerged...the other Jakens followed suit.
