It's revealed that Kikyo was cursed by Tsubaki so that she would die a horrible death, if she were to ever fall in love.
In the episode "Secret of the Jewel of Four Souls Revealed", Sango mentions how her grandfather was killed over the the jewel. We now get to see how that transpired. His name was Shako and he owned both the Hiraikotsu and Kirara. So, apparently, Sango inherited the weapon, but we are not told where Kirara was until her father put Kirara in Sango's care.
Look carefully: In the recap of how Onigumo became a half-demon we first see a small spider-shaped demon who is the one who actually bargains with Onigumo. This almost assuredly is Naraku's true, original form. It would also explain the spider-shaped scar on Naraku and all of his incarnations' backs.
Kikyo chooses a trigger word for a rosary she plans to give to Inuyasha.
How in the world was Mistress Centipede defeated by the slayers, in the first place, if she had the entire Shikon Jewel? The reason the slayers were able to defeat Mistress Centipede is because she was still absorbing the Shikon Jewel's full power.
Kikyo: Let me ask you one more question, Half-Demon, what name do you go by? Inuyasha: Hey, listen--quit calling me a half-demon, would ya? Kikyo: Then tell me your name and I shall never call you Half-Demon, again. Inuyasha: It's Inuyasha. Kikyo: Inuyasha, you say? I'll remember that.
Inuyasha: (thinking) A priestess who walks a path tainted by blood. Kikyo: (thinking) A being that is neither demon or human. A pitiful half-demon, merely trying to find his place in the world.
