Dark Harvest
AIRED:
When Dib finds out that Zim has no human organs, he attempts to exploit Zim’s ailment of head pigeons to get the skool's nurse to examine Zim in hopes she will see the truth. However, when Dib blurts his plan out to Zim, Zim develops a device that will permit him to switch objects for organs, in which he begins to steal the organs of his fellow classmates in order to appear more human in time for his appointment at the nurse’s office.moreless

  • This episode makes me want to vomit my own organs out.

    1.0
Okay, first of all, not all of ZIM's organs could possibly be "unidentifiable." Second, it's filled with gratuitous nauseating scenes of organs being shown. Third, how could the kids be alive and functioning if their organs had been removed? Fourth, didn't anyone notice ZIM was now four times as fat? Fifth, they did not have to show ZIM burping out an intestine and sucking it back in. That's just wrong. Sixth, ZIM stole a brain from a lady even though according to Invasion of the Idiot Dog Brain, he already had one. Seventh, the nurse shouldn't have pronounced ZIM healthy; he had more than one of several organs, and also he was extremely obese because of this and therefore the nurse should have worried that he'd have a "heart" attack. Eighth, the ending is just plain stupid and makes me want to hurl rocks at the TV in frustration.

This is my first negative review. I hope you liked it.moreless

Yeeeesssss, A classic horror film but in Animated version and an episode not a movie! But still, So good and Spine-tingling! Probably to young kids after watching it they jump whenever they see their own shadow. Grossness? Not really affected by me! As for the scarieness? Sure it was a bit creepy but i was able to sit through the whole thing! Highly entertaining! Extra creepy when the kids didn't feel so good! Organs have been stolen! The trouble started (and horror) when a pidgeon landed on ZIM's head and the teacher advised him to go the nurse while Dib says ZIM is going to be discovered when the nurse finds out he has alienic organs that aren't human! ZIM's first attack is the Hall Monitor and his stealing of the liver! ZIM's last attack before Dib was a weight-lifter's lungs! ZIM's last organ needed was in the only kid left in school where one of his organ's haven't been stolen...Dib! In the end Dib(the sole survivor) is also unfortunately fallen victim to ZIM's master plan, and the nurse thinks ZIM is pro-healthy while the Nurse freaks about Dib being a crazed cow! (the only thing that suprised me was the other nurse didn't notice something wrong with the other nurse considering her Brain has been replaced with a foaming soda can!) So I give this creepy horror flim episode a two thumbs up! Grave danger all around you! Yikes!moreless
  • Very good.

This episode was very good, but really... gross.

Well, I wouldn't say it would be gross. In fact, I wouldn't say it was gross at all! Iy's just kinda the fact that this show airs on Nickelodeon, and I think little kids would be a little freaked out about a green kid stealing people's organs. It was funny to me, though.

I liked it that the radiator was the hall pass, and that Dib had to drag that around the whole school, while looking for ZIM. Then, when Dib leaves it out of his reach, ZIM switches it for someone's organs. Creepy!

Okay, I watched this episode before church right up to the part where Gaz is playing her Game Slave through her skin. All through church I was thinking about what happened. Jhonen Vasquez (claps loudly at sound of Jhonen\'s name) himself said that when he sat with a group of viewers (ages 8-13) half of them asked to go to the bathroom and never came back. Me? Yeah, I could stomach it, but god, it scared me out of my wits. Oh yes, and my brother thought that Zim had forced them to swallow random items. Just thought I should mention that. Okay, so it scared me, I\'ll admit it. It was gross, but well done. All in all, good episode, bad effects for me. Did I mention I watched this on the night of Christmas Eve?moreless
  • Grosser than Lice

    7.1
I didn't really like this episode much, except when Gaz was sassing Dib. Stealing organs from the students was gross and he overdid it. This was probably the worst episode of ZIM I've seen and definitely my least favorite. And how was Gaz still able to play her game when it was switched with whatever organ ZIM took from her?

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Filler Bunny, one of Jhonen Vasquez's comic creations, makes a cameo in a jar at the beginning of the episode.

    • Watch carefully: Just before Dib gets into boilerroom, you can see an arrow-shaped sign on the wall with the letters JV. These are initials of Jhonen Vasquez, the show's creator.

    • Nitpick: Amongst the sick students in the cafeteria is Zootch, the kid with one strand of hair. However, when Dib goes over to Torque Smackey, Zootch is over against the wall near Torque's table looking just fine, despite the fact that he was in pain just moments earlier.

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Dib: Ms. Bitters, I think a pencil is lodged in my brain. Can I go to the nurse?
Ms. Bitters: How far in your brain?
Dib: (looks at his nose) Pretty far.

    • Dib: (to Zim, about his organs) I suppose you have a heart?
      Zim: (smugly) Six of them.
      Dib: Intestines?
      Zim: Large and small.
      Dib: Spleen?
      Zim: In three different colors.
      Dib: What about lungs?
      Zim: ...

    • (A pigeon flies through the window and lands on Zim's head)
      Ms. Bitters: Zim!
      Zim: Sir!
Ms. Bitters: There's a pigeon on your head! You've got head pigeons! Go to the nurse before they spread to the other children!

    • Ms. Bitters: (to nurse, pointing at Zim) That one had head pigeons, (referring to Dib) The other one is just annoying, fix it.

    • Dib: See Gaz, to defeat my enemy I must study my enemy, then become my enemy, then move in with my enemy, then wear my enemy's clothes, then…
      Gaz: You're in my light…

    • Ms. Bitters: (talking about before the Big Bang) There, where your head is, there was nothing!

    • (Zootch is hit with a dodge ball)
      Zootch: Ahh, my organs!
      Zim: HA! Pitiful human organs!
(Zim is hit with a dodge ball)
      Zim: Ahh, my squeedily spooch!
Dib: Gaz, you hear that? That's no human organ! Humans don't have squeedily spooches!
      Gaz: I've got a squeedily spooch…

    • (Dib snaps a pencil in half and puts the eraser half up his nose)
Dib: Ms. Bitters, I think this pencil is lodged in my brain; can I go to the nurse's office?
Ms. Bitters: How far in your brain?
(Dib thinks for a few seconds, then replies)
      Dib: Pretty far.

    • Dib: Do not show fear! This is me without fear... and a 62-pound hall pass.

    • Dib: You'll never get away with this…
Zim: You speak craziness, Earth boy! More organs means more human, it will work!

  • NOTES (0)

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • At the end of the episode, Dib enters a boiler room while trying to run away from Zim. It is there where Zim finds him and steals one of his organs.

This event is very similar to events in the 1984 movie The Nightmare On Elm Street. In the movie, while a teenager was dreaming, Freddy Krueger would usually kill them in a boiler room.

    • Ms. Bitters: If you leave school grounds, it will explode!

In The Running Man (1987), Arnold Schwarzenegger and other inmates are kept in a prison with an electronic frontier, in which a collar around their necks will explode if they attempt to leave.
