Shaun Cassidy said in an interview with TV Guide that the DVD set will be released in the summer. He has also been asking the studio about adding the show to iTunes along with other ABC series like Lost and Desperate Housewives, but unlike those shows, Invasion is not produced by a Disney/ABC company (Touchstone). There is an ongoing dispute between Warner Studios and ABC about who owns the download rights. The interview is accessible at TV Guide. Select Episode 39, March 3rd. It's part of a weekly podcast feature. The TV Guide people are a little annoying and you have to listen to them prattle on about Charmed and general TV news for a while before they get to the taped telephone conversation with Shaun.

We actually talked about that podcast in another thread. Thanks though. I'm not sure if the other thread is still here.

I don't see that discussion. This is a new podcast that was published on March 3rd of this year. The earlier topic about a podcast is dated well before 3/3/06 so it couldn't have been referring to this new interview.

I avoid that topic because I'm always behind on the episodes. I think this new topic is okay because other people might stay away from that "spoilers" thread as well.

Thanks for posting 123 - I wonder if they have great sales of the DVD if another network will pick it up?

I know everyone is feeling down since the cancellation became official but here's a little good news. The DVD set is due to be released on August 22. Everyone can show their support for TV.com by buying the DVD set through the DVD link on the Invasion home page here. You can also click on the DVD tab.

[The links aren't there yet since the DVD hasn't been released. Look out for it later in the summer.]

I still don't know that the "cancellation" is official, and I kind of wish people would stop throwing the word around. ABC isn't bringing it back to prime time, but last time I checked there was still no word from CW or Sci-fi. Plus, pazsaz doesn't have it listed as cancelled yet, and they update really quickly when things get the boot.

The CW already released their fall schedule. They aren't going to pick it up. All the other networks have released their fall schedules too. Although I'd be glad to be wrong, I don't see who has an available time slot for the show. Maybe Sci Fi Channel but the reason CW didn't pick it up was because of the production costs. Sci Fi can't afford an expensive show either. In a best case scenario, the cast takes a hefty pay cut, some of the special effects are cut out and Sci Fi squeezes in the show on a night otherwise taken up with repeats.

The ABC cancellation is official. No other network has expressed serious interest yet... It'll have to be relatively soon before all the actors go their separate ways and get different jobs. They aren't going to hang around waiting for an unlikely pickup and stay unemployed forever. Maybe the DVD release can provide a boost but that would be a really late start if the producers want to continue with a Season 2 somewhere.

I have no interest in the DVD whatsoever. They canned the show and the dvd is just a milkmoney from marketing execs. As for expenses, the show was 90% soundstage.

Maybe they'll have an alternative ending on the DVDs.
