Invasion, Chief: ABC Faces Tough Decisions In an interview with TVGuide.com, Jeff Bader, executive vice president of ABC entertainment programming and scheduling, says that as the May upfronts fast approach, the fates of Invasion and Commander in Chief have yet to be decided. "Since November, Invasion's episodes have been phenomenal," he says, "so that's a discussion more about the potential of the show than the actual [ratings] performance of it." Geena Davis' Commander in Chief is a "harder" decision, Bader tells us, because the network must weigh the pros ("a big star and a great concept") against its ratings struggles. (Chief debuted strongly, but took a major ratings hit over the course of two long hiatuses and show-runner changes.) "We know what we'd be renewing and we like what we'd be renewing, but the question is: Can we get the audience back?"

Some networks did some updates. FOX renewed Prison Break and NBC renewed My Name is Earl. Of course both of these shows are questionably the two biggest successes of the new Fall season, though.

From what I understand ABC is willing to bring one weak show back, and they're saying since Invasion is doing great quality-wise that they could bring it back over Commander-in-Chief, which has been reinvented like three times due to changes in showrunners. And they could try relaunching Invasion in a new timeslot. Plus, I think critics like Invasion more than they do C-I-C.
Looks like CIC is done. Hopefully that means Invasion gets to stay (based on some "reading between the lines" on some of the previous posts here).
My hunch (regarding CIC) is that the initial surge in ratings was the hype of "a woman becoming president". However, the show was basically a copy of West Wing (only not as good) & once the whole "woman as president" schtick wore off, people walked.
I extremely doubt Invasion will be cancelled. What I think will happen is that the writers will be told that in season 2, they should speed the pace up a bit because that is what drove many people away. And I think they will be told to put more mysteries in the story.
Invasion is very good atm. I've got mates who just flick on and they see the last 5 mins of an episode and they're hooked! but the people who started watching it at the start have gone away... except me and one other person!

The best thing they can do is watch the show and get all their friends to watch. I know people always say "Well I'm not a Nielsen Viewer so it doesn't matter" but hype and word-of-mouth and larger total viewership numbers means more Nielsen viewers will probably tune in. The final decision is coming in a couple weeks so a letter writing campaign at this point isn't likely to make much of a difference either way.
