I cant believe that abc has cancelled this great series i absolutly loved invasion it had great actor characters and a brilliant mystery and im so sad that we wont be getting a series 2 epsecially considering the huge cliffhanger that we got at the end of this episode, now we will never know what happennd to larkin :(

Well that's rotten! Its taken me 2 years and finally catching it on the Chiller channel to just be left hanging with Larkin in the sea.. What are they thinking get us hooked then leave us out to dry.. Makes me wonder why any of us watch a series if they can just cancel and not care about the loyal fans who did love it and watch every week. It was cut from ABC then cut from the SciFi channel and I caught it by chance flicking through channels with Chiller showing back to back I was in Heaven till they dumped again with a silly ending..Grrrr
  • where is the rest of the show?

this episode was one of the best and intense episodes of invasion so far. but they have left us hanging on a cliffhang without knowing nothing of what will happen next. so i ask where is the rest?, are they gonna continue this great tv show, that is loved by so many?. keeping us on this cliffhang for years seems pretty unfair to us all. they did a great job at ending the tv show jericho, so why not invasion. its a shame that they cant give this great show an ending that it is worthy of. a second season with a proper should be done, so we can finally get a ending to this great tv show.
  • This show was getting so good I cant belive they canceled it. I dont watch much tv snd this show had me coming back for more each week. While it lives on via netflix I still would love to see a real ending for the cliffhanger.

Awesome - they really need to bring back this show someday. I mean their was great sceens of people pushing non infexted people into the water to be cloned off and killed. women and children screeming and being tossed into hurricane sea with lights everywhere. Some great shows... lets say x-files kinda stayed on too long, they should of known where to end the story and move on but this show really needed to keep going. Perhaps sci fi network can pick up this show at some point or they can make a one time movie.

really awesome show but too many unanswered questions.
  • "Invasion" is simply one of the most engrossing tv shows I've ever seen.

What were they thinking when they cancelled this? This show has it all: amazing characters with lots of development, strong plotlines and tons of creepy suspense. This (last? NOOOO!) installment was fantastic as ever. While the hybrid version of the National Garde starts pushing the trapped people into the water, Tom and Russel come to the rescue. In the end they manage to take out Szura, who had taken Mariel hostage. Russel and Mariel take care of the five pregnant hybrid-women we met in the previous episode and Tom returns home only to discover that all the kids and Lewis are held at gunpoint by Jesse's friend Brett and another young man. Tom struggles to disarm the latter but can't stop the gun from going off once.

A few frightening seconds later we discover that Larkin was the one who took the blow! When Tom realizes that nothing can save her except for the water, he goes to the shore and throws her nearly lifeless body into the waves. Russel and Mariel meet up with him and the screen goes dark after Russel calls out: "What happened?" Somehow I feel that while they left us with a major cliffhanger, I feel that we've also seen quite enough to figure things out for ourselves. When I first heard that the show got cancelled and ended on a cliffhanger I thought they'd let much bigger issues be unresolved - the hurricane revolution pt. 2, for example! The writers could've just left it there at the wharf, with Szura taking Mariel with him. I'm really glad to know they haven't done that.

But nonetheless: "Invasion" deserves at least one more season! And William Fichtner: you might be able to squeeze this in between shootings for "Prison Break", won't you? Pleeeaaase? Bring it on, people!
  • Awesome finale.. If only we had a season 2.

Invasion started off slow, but I stuck with it & I'm glad I did. Half way through the show, it just began to get better by the episode. The writing, acting, directing... everything. The tension began to build, all leading up to this awesome finale.

I just wish there was a season 2. For a season finale, this was mindblowing... but for a series finale, it left alot open, and the finale scene will leave you desperate for more. It was an awesome episode, and a great end to the season.

Hopefully 1 day it'll be brought back so we can find out what happened to Larkin... But I doubt it'll ever happen.

    10/10

Along with episodes 20 & 21, this goes to show how good Invasion actually was. If only people gave it a chance.
  • The Best Episode EVER!

Invasion started out kinda slow. Then it sped up and in the end, it wouldn't slow down! The finale was amazing.... the acting, the effects, the story, the characters, the directing were all great! Whether or not a new episode is made, i'm happy with the way it ended even though there are a few unanswered questions. But I can live with that, it means that if the show were started again, there'd be somewhere for the writers to begin. But i also like that I can try to work out what happened! I first watched it on TV and was bought the DVDs as a present. I found watching the DVDs an even better experience than before, so I reccomend getting the DVDs if you enjoyed it on TV.
  • That all the Invasion we are gonna get.

I can't believe ABC let this one go. No way should this show have been cancelled not when you can make episodes like this... Invasion started off a little show granted but by the end of the series the episodes just kept getting better. I don't know why Invasion didn't have a bigger fan base, the writing on this show is incredible. Well in the final installment we are left wondering whether Larkin is dead or is becoming a copy. Zura is dead and most of the town is infected... I can't believe this is it, so much more needs to happen. I think that in this past season Invasion has done more than most shows do in a cupple of years. Well i hope for a movie or any continuation of the series but i fear it will not happen. That was a bad move ABC...

This was a great episode, i neer thought that on the last episode we would be told so much, the series was not canceled uptil after this episode aired which was a real shame. The story was so complelling with the possible death of Larkin and the death of Szura made me shocked, its a shame that we will never learn how the show would have ended, all of the actors gave a wonderful proformance for this last episode. I have so many great memories of this series and it will remain amoung one of my favorates ABC was wrong to let this show go, Shawn Cssidy also deserves credit for such great writing. We can now only hope for a movie

    good bye Invasion
  • Unsloved Ending

It is quite a drag to see the series end like that. Larkin gets shot and than Tom has to take her to the ocean to be reborn as an alien. And the mysteries that are still remaining are what will happen to Larkin's baby, the jelly squid that attack Kira didn't fully asorb her, so will there another failed clone just like Dave's clone, and what about the farmer's son back in episode five (I think), will he return. My feeling is this a part of Lost, that the island is an Alien Conspiracy and the "Others" are a part of their study, once the series end, everyone will be back on the continent, the others will be aliens and soon as you know it, Invasion will come back with the others in it.
  • After having watched the whole season, I have come to the realisation that cancelling Invasion is madness. Pure madness. Bring Invasion back, ABC. Bring it back now!

    10
    "Perfect"
An amazing episode in which all manner of things happened, the most startling of which was Larkin's shooting.

Just when you thought everything was okay and everyone was safe, BAM. Larkin is shot, and it turns out that millions of creatures are in the water now, meaning that half the world is probably going to be turned into hybrids. Oh, and a high-level government conspiracy is revealed, one bigger than ever suspected.

In the same vein, just when you thought Invasion was going from bloody excellent to bloody superb, BAM, a certain network gives you a slap in the face in the form of "Sorry guys, but we're cancelling our only good show next to Lost".

Look at what you did now, ABC. Your ratings are at an all-time low, and the series you have picked to replace Invasion are getting shunned. Actually, pretty much all your new material is getting shirked by viewers.

Not only was Invasion, by your own admission, a stellar show, but it had great potential. Potential you stifled; thanks to bad timeslots, constant switching of timeslots, stopping the show in the middle of the season, airing reruns in the middle of the season and at random moments, and complete lack of marketing or advertising. Despite all this however, you got at least 10 milion viewers each time (and that's only the USA. In the UK, Brazil etc even more people watch it. Not to mention the millions of Invasion DVD box sets sold).

This show was a winner and it could have developed into something close to the Lost phenomenon. I guarantee you that if you give Invasion regular timeslots and market it properly, you would, at the very least, have a successful show with very high ratings that brings in the dough.

ABC, I'm sure you had your reasons and that they seemed like good reasons at the time, but with hindsight you have to admit that it was a mistake to cancel Invasion.

So bring Invasion back (as soon as Fichtner finishes his role in the second season of Prison Break). You can bring it back in a year, I bet that won't be a problem. The show's big enough to bring everybody back. And I bet you can make a lot of money on an "Invasion comeback" if you advertise it properly.

Anyway this was a great series finale, and Invasion should be brought back on the air soon. At least as a mini-movie or mini-series to tie up the knots. Can't leave us hanging like that...

One can only hope, no matter how slim hope sometimes seems.
  • Ends in a cliffhanger, SHAUN CASSIDY I BEG YOU PLS. BRING BACK INVASION.

this is the finale of the season, or perhaps for the series if abc lost their minds. the finale ends in a climactic showdown between the hybrid aliens who want to take over the town and those that believe in peaceful co existense. but things don't go so well when redneck humans decide to take the law into their own hands and commit blind vigilantism. this show shows us that aliens aren't always the problem, humans have flaws that they need to examine. the writers did a good job writing this episode, the drama is intense and the fast pace doesn't bore you. it's a really exciting show, i really look forward for a season 2.
  • To good not to bring back, thats all I have to say about a summary of this episode!

Very good episode, however with it being the last one of the series, it really sucked!! Why the heck did they cancel it??? It doesn\\\\\\\'t make any sense to me.. there is talk of another channel picking up on it however so that makes me happy!! My review, good but bad in another sense. Look forward to seeing if this new station picks it up!!! Can\\\'t beleive they would cancel it with one of the hottest men on television on it! Eddie! Please come back to TV!!! HA HA HA!! Guess we will have to wait and see!! Everyone who is an Invasion fan, cross your fingers!
  • An amazing way to end the series. Shame it will be the last one.

This episode was very fast paced. It starts with the hybrids pushing the humans into the water to change.

This episode shows the strength of all characters and how they will attempt to protect their family. The effects of the sky will the aliens landing into the water was very good especially for this show.

This episode shows can people can do the right thing even if they don't want to, like when Russell helps the pregnant hybrids get to the water. As well as when Brett decides not to take the family hostage.

Over all i enjoyed this episode and found it very gripping, there is still room for a second series with the cliff hanger at the end.

in this season i have to admit that this series started good, then went bad and at the end pull to a very good. In this episode we see how the plot is ended by russle and the sheriff. I also have to say that this series has similarity with another series caleed V that run in the 80's. We also see how he opens for the second seasson that i will not mist id the writes keep the good work.
  • The Season Finale, the hybrid army continues to push the captors into the water as thousands of luminescent lights fall into it. There is some strong resistance, but it appears as if all humans will be pushed into the water and they will become hybrids.

Great show!!!! But why stopping now? Are they really that stupid?????????? It\'s not the first time a serie begins and they decide to stop it. Make\'s me feel like another \"Farscape\" or \"Threshold\"... At least try to make a proper ending!!!!! What to do now? Make up an ending ourselves? Ow,pleazzzzzze..... Anyhow....a second season was never made or is just laying there on a shelf? I think networks should finish a show even though it\'s not so well-rated as they would like it to be... Just finish it or make a special at the end..watching television-serie\'s this way is very annoying!!!!!
  • The series started well but got slow and never seemed to move anywhere but this episode really brought it to life and i'm gutted that there will not be a second season.

Invasion isn't the most origonal idea but is a great show to watch and I looked forward to it every sunday night here in england. I think it started well but episodes 7 - 18 were really slow and made me nearly lose interest. But the last few episodes really made the show and the ending with underlay taking Larkin to the water really did get me thinking that a second season is needed and its annoying that abc are cancelling it. I was also wandering where it would go with a second season though??? I do not think they could make 24 episodes after all that has happened and i think there ideas must be not very good anymore.

i thought this was a brill episode but ididnt understand what the hybrids want or what they are because i missed2 episodes. hoever, it was good, but what happened to Larkin at the end? will we find out? is there going to be another series? i sure hope so! did larkin get healed in the water and will her baby become one of those strange creatures. i thought it was really weird when the pregnant women went to give birth in the water and the women carried them away. anyway, good episode please show another series i am hopping anyway!

it just can't be the last one!!!!!! When the episode finshed I was already trying to imagine the beginning of the next season!!! This show is amazing!! I have to admit I didn't like it so much when it started but, I gave it a go anyway, and around the 5th I was hooked. Never missed one! The plot is so fantastic... These last two eps. at times reminded me of V - another absolutely wonderful show.

Why is it being canceled? Can anyone please let me know?
  • I don\\\'t watch tv- but was sucked in from the very first episode. I liked the characters and the story line. Very interesting. There aren\\\'t any sci-fi tv shows on basic tv right now- someone other channel (nbc or fox) should buy this show-

It can't stop there! What happens to Larkin?! What idiot decided this was the last eposode...huh??? Put more commericals in to pay for the show or something! Fox or NBC should buy the show...there are NO other sci-fi shows out there right now. Let's get something different out there- like Invasion- season 2. Who's with me?
  • Watched the last wave goodbye last night it was fantastic then my jaw dropped when the tv announcer said that was the last one. Then found out it might not come back for another season. what a cliff hanger, it just has to continue!!!!!

overall the series has been Great, some slow drawn out episodes every now and then with not much going on. With many shockers mixed in for good measure. with twists and turns in many of the charactors and the story lines. not exactly filled with sci-fi Star Trekkie special effects but a great story line following the Florida homesteds after the hurricane. coping with loved ones and friend acting differently to say the least.

  • Is this really the final episode? I know, they planned it as a cliffhanger but c'mon...

    "Good"
This is a typical cliffhanger finale. I cannot understand why they did not changed it when they do not plan to film a next season. Other than that, i thought ti could actually been a lot better. There is just not so much tension that reflects the buidling up the weeks before. We all knew what was gonna happen! Plese make a next episode! One thing is for sure, there is a lot of potential for a great 2nd season.
  • Outstanding! There is everything in this series, tension, suspense, morality and fantastic integration of characters. I can\'t understand why ABC would want to end this show. Are they saving their air time incase something better comes along? - If they

Szura\'s plans come to a close (permanently). The intervention of the airforce causes frustration and makes Szura snatch hostages, but he\'s chosen the wrong Sheriff\'s wife to mess with! Tom and Russell, to the rescue, make sure Szura can\'t cause anymore damage. Meanwhile, Dave, Larkin, Lewis & kids are kidnapped/held hostage by revolutionists, who are demanding answers. An unfortunate sequence of events cause an upsetting end for Larkin.
  • Tom makes a stand against the military hybrids while Russell and Mariel try to find their family and a pack of pregnant hybrids.

    10
    "Perfect"
Tom and Russell find Szura and try to free people from the military hybrids. In the season finale that turned out to be the last episode of the series.

Great way to end the season too bad it was the last for the series. Yes this was not intentioned to be the last episode, merely a season cliffhanger, so actually it’s incorrect to say series finale as it was not written to be the last episode.

What a great episode though, this would have set up another great season. Tom goes Rambo on some of the military hybrids. He’s able to round up some of his family, while Russell and Mariel take some of the pregnant hybrids to safety.

It was interesting how Shaun Cassidy is able to bring in the moral question in here. Russell could care less about them but Mariel always the good woman said to let them live.

A lot of intense moments, and damn to hell what happened to Larkin getting shot. Of course that led the last scene with Tom holding her with Russell coming on to the scene.

Invasion will stand out as a great series that ABC idiotically decided to can.

  • OMG I did not realise this was the Season Finale!

    10
    "Perfect"
Poor Larkin, they had to do that really, one of the good guys (well most of them!) had to go eventually or again rephrase that, they had to be 'changed'.

I have always stood by the fact that this was a version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and today kinda bought that feeling to me again when we finally saw the tentacles of that things out of the open water..wow!

Overall this was a fantastic episode, although they never followed up with the rest of the women they left behind, did they 'give birth' or just die upstairs?

With all the lights falling from the sky does that now mean the water has a little community of alien type water creatures?

Also with the women giving birth, are they going to turn into those things or will they become a sort of hybrid/water thing?

all these questions and we have to wait 6 months to find out!
  • A great series is cut down in its prime...

    9.0
    "Superb"
As everyone is now well aware, “Invasion” has been cancelled after one season. Frankly, I’m not surprised. It’s a bit of a miracle that it made it this far. Nearly every series that fell into the “Lost” formula this season found itself cancelled or barely renewed (“Supernatural” being the sole survivor). “Invasion” had the benefit of an entire season to tell a relatively complete story, and while there is much left unanswered (including the final cliffhanger), it’s possible to look back on the series as storytelling success.

In terms of the finale, the entire first act was insane and more than a little terrifying. After the previous episode, I mentioned that the circumstances were horrific, and that just carries over into this final hour. Appropriately, Dave (the one person who seemed closest to the truth all season long) is the one who makes the critical call to save the remaining humans in the town. Was someone in the military going along with the plan? Almost certainly, but this was an interesting way to bring a resolution.

The rest of the episode was fallout and potential setup. The fallout comes first. Szura finally gets it in the end, and it’s a sweet moment for Underlay. In fact, Underlay and Russell have been working together very well, which is a nice extension of the family metaphor. Once again, most fractured families manage to pull together when something external threatens the whole. But Underlay in particular was at the center of the episode, especially the action scenes, and that made me very happy.

Now, the setup. Clearly the fact that the surviving pregnant hybrids made it to the sea and were carried away would have been important. Russell’s constant warnings about the hybrids as a bridge species for something far more invasive was probably foreshadowing. And of course, the idea of Larkin as a hybrid, especially with the baby, brings up other issues of compatability. After all, a baby is essentially a parasitic organism; would that qualify as a reason to reject Larkin, or would the baby have been something unintended?

Unless the writers reveal the intentions on the impending DVD set, there will likely be no answers to the open questions. The second season would have been all about the offspring and the consequences. It could have quickly turned into a commentary on “us vs. them”, and the question of whether “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. If something worse came along, would that have pushed the hybrids and humans into cooperation (turning, once again, to the family metaphor)?

In a way, that’s the only complaint that I have with this finale. The producers have been fighting a battle to keep the series on the air since early in the run, so the possibility of cancellation was always there. Why set up a cliffhanger at the end of the season, knowing that the fans would likely be left hanging? It’s not a sign of defeat, especially since writers should have the tools available to write a resolution that also points towards future exploration. The fact that they didn’t plan for it leaves the series with an unnecessary open ending.

This is the part where I would usually launch into a discussion about the season and series as a whole, but I’m doing things a little differently moving forward. The “Invasion” post-mortem (so to speak) will be the main focus of this week’s episode of “Dispatches from Tuzenor”, a new podcast started as an expansion to the written reviews conducted every season. That episode should be up after the weekend, so I invite anyone interested to drop by the archive site (www.entil2001.com) and click on the link. (It’s also available on iTunes.)

  • Fichtner should win an Emmy

    "Perfect"
I can't understand why ABC could possibly cancel this show. The first 10 minutes felt like Black Hawk Down and the last 10 minutes were so gripping that I haven't felt like that in a long time. Does anyone else feel that WIlliam Fichtner deserves an Emmy for his performance? I certainly do. The ratings were starting to pick up, and the show was finally starting to get the promotion and attention that it deserved. Maybe this will be an example of what might have happened if NBC had canceled Seinfeld as it took a while to find the audience that it deserved. We will never know. Shame on ABC. There was nothing else quite like it on television which is more than can be said for the new shows they are announcing this week - more of the same boring premises. No patience, no reward. Can't wait for the DVD box set.
  • Great suspense! Characters terrific as usual. I have to know what happens to Larkin!!!

An excellent “season” finale. What are they thinking canceling the series!! I am so disappointed. This sci-fi series is intelligently written, with wonderful characters and terrific acting. Each character was so different with both good qualities and personality flaws – it just added to “realness” of the show.

I think that there are so many unanswered questions that we deserve at least another season. My only problem was staying awake long enough to watch it – I wish it were on at 9:00.

“Invasion” could definitely compete with “X-files”. What a loss for all of us who are fans of this genre!!

  • I can't believe that is the end!!!

    10
    "Perfect"
I can't believe that was the last episode! It was heart-pounding and left far more questions than answers. I don't think that ABC gave "Invasion" a fighting chance. This episode was amazing. It's such a shame that we will never get any answers. What happened to the women who went to give birth to their offspring in the water? Will Larkin be healed of her gunshot wound? I know it's unrealistic but someone should turn this show into a movie! At least then maybe we would get some answers. Overall, this was an innovative, well scripted, and well produced series which the audience obviously wasn't ready for amidst the mediocre dramas and comedies marring the television landscape.
