Origin of the Mandarin
AIRED:
The Mandarin and company try to take over one of Stark Enterprises' oil drilling Wildcatters, but are defeated by Force Works. Even better, Spider-Woman finds a black box recorder from the Skysaucer, and it contains a diary of sorts. Iron Man, War Machine and Hawkeye head out to make sure the remaining Wildcatters are secure. Meanwhile, after the black box is opened up, Spider-Woman, Scarlet Witch and Century get more than they bargained for. As a recording soon reveals, archaeologist Arnold Brock abandoned his love and friends to save himself from bandits – inadvertently stumbling upon a crashed spaceship, massive dragons, powerful gems and his destiny as the Mandarin. However, something more is going on with this diary.moreless

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • The armor Mandarin wore was made made of Adamantium, and featured a nuclear capability.

      • In this episode ,the Mandarin said that he found inside the spaceship only jems which he later fused with Ilona's rings ,but in The Beast Within the dragons said that he have stolen their RINGS.

    • QUOTES (5)

      • Hammer: Release me, or I'll sue!

      • Dreadknight: (To the hypnotised Spider-Woman and Scarlet Witch) A pity you're not aware of my prescence. If you were, you'd be trembling before my bold, manly, machismo!
Hawkeye: Machismo? Isn't that spanish for "Dipstick"?
Iron man: Yeah, spanish. As in "hasta la vista"!

      • Whirlwind: Nothing like a good sandblasting to scrub the rust off your butt, Iron Man!

      • Mandarin:(Exploring the hall of armors)Astonishing!(laughing)Yes ,yes! Undersea armor!
Iron Man:Too bad there's no armor for 6 feet underground! You're gonna need it!

      • Tony: We've stumbled upon some sort of electronic diary.
Jim: The Mandarin keeps a diary?
Julia: (giggles) Sure, Jim. ''Dear diary, I couldn't get a date for the prom, so I had to take MODOK. He ate his corsage.''
        (Wanda and Century laugh)

    • NOTES (3)

      • An adaptation of the episode was published in the comic book Marvel Action Hour: Iron Man #7.

      • Although coloured incorrectly for the entire episode, the alien dragon the Mandarin encountered when he gained his rings is intended to be Fin Fang Foom.

      • During the Mandarin's narration of his origin, he comments that his path will cross with Yinsen's again. This foreshadows the "Origin of Iron Man" two-parter, which details their final meeting.
