This episode highlighted the mixed emotions of Mark as he graduated from law school. It also showed the Chief trying to become more independent, anticipating Mark's increasing need to be away from the office. Mark faces conflict in his choice of career path as he tries to find evidence to prove a man innocent. He also is conflicted about the Chief wanting to be more independent. There is a humorous scene when Ironside goes for a driving exam and then wanting to drive when Mark is with him. The scenes with Ironside and Mark show the unspoken bond between the two men, the mentor and the friend. The relationship between them is changing, but still strong. Again the performances of Raymond Burr and Don Mitchell were wonderful.
