There is no town of Griffin in California nor is there a Bernal County. There is a neighborhood in San Francisco called Bernal Heights, which is located to the south of the Mission District. Bernal Heights is bounded by Cesar Chavez Street to the north, San Jose Avenue to the west and freeways I-280 and US 101 to the south and east.
This is the last episode featuring the gray tank-like van of Ironside's. It is replaced at show's end with the beige-white newly fitted van.
Eve: We've got a town coming up some place along here. Griffin, I think. Anyone want to stop and eat?
Eve: I don't think I could face up to one more Swiss cheese on rye.
Ironside: One of us happens to be hungry!
Eve: Oh, well, then there's always tuna salad on whole wheat.
Eve: I'd like to along.
Sheriff Poole: Well, I may be just a country cop, Miss, but I think I can handle this without the help of the ladies' auxiliary.
Ironside: Officer Whitfield is a perfectly qualified policewoman.
Sheriff Poole: I have some perfectly qualified deputies.
Ironside: Professional courtesy, Sheriff.
Sheriff Poole: All right, you can ride with Deputy Hoag.
Steve Forrest, Clu Gulager and William Smith are billed as Guest Stars in the opening credits.
Louise Latham is billed as a Special Guest Star in the opening credits.
Graf Zeppelin
Ed is referring to the large German hydrogen-filled rigid airships, which operated commercially from 1928 to 1937. They were named after German pioneer of airships, Ferdinand von Zeppelin, who held the rank of Graf (Count) in German nobility.
There were two Graf Zeppelin airships, the LZ 127 and LZ 130. In addition, there was an aircraft carrier of the same name in use from 1938 to 1947.
As Ed suggests, any of them would have been very easy to spot!
