In this episode, the Chief tells us that he hates borscht.
Ed: Chief, how far do you want to go with this? You know the way women are, your Aunt could have bollixed up the story somehow
Ironside: Aunt Victoria doesn't bollix! She's sharper than any woman I know. And when she smells a rat, I dust off the traps.
(showing the Chief the Bridge Club's ledger with a partial entry for July 14)
Aunt Victoria: Something, someone, interrupted her and she never returned to finish the entry. Who interrupted her? Harvey McPhee. When? 5:45, July 14th. Where? Right in that house. There's your proof of murder. Now I must get on.
Aunt Victoria: Robert, you're not giving up the case?
Ironside: That's the trouble, I can't. I'm getting hooked on it myself. But you are not to interfere. I don't want you or the ladies of the Tuesday Afternoon Bridge Club mixed up in this. Now do, you do understand.
Aunt Victoria: Oh, of course.
Ironside: Keep your eyes and ears open, but that's all. Let the other genius in the family handle it, right?
Aunt Victoria: Right.
Ironside: Right.
Aunt Victoria: Robert
Ironside: What are you doing here, Aunt Victoria? Didn't we discuss not interfering?
Aunt Victoria: I called, but you'd left. The operator said you were coming here. Robert, Agnes saw them leave.
Agnes: Together, both of them.
Aunt Victoria: McPhee and Val.
Agnes She didn't fool me, not for a minute.
Ironside: And Val was dressed as a boy.
Aunt Victoria: How did...?
Ironside: Genius. Runs in the family. All right, McPhee and the girl are gone. Ironside: Now, go you and do likewise.
Aunt Victoria: Robert.
Home. Immediately. Get inside. Lock the doors. Stay put. Pfft. Disappear.
Aunt Victoria: His mother was Welsh.
(at the Most Honored Member of the Tuesday Afternoon Bridge Club trophy presentation)
Aunt Victoria: Naturally, I take special pride in bestowing this honor upon someone so dear to me, so close to me as my own dear nephew, Chief Robert Ironside. (applause) Robert, I'd like to read the inscription on this lovely trophy. "To Robert Ironside, who plays the game with courage, imagination and intelligence, our champion. From the ladies of the Tuesday Afternoon Bridge Club."
Arthur O'Connell, Jessie Royce Landis and Gail Kobe as billed as Guest Starts in the opening credits.
