Simon: You have nothing to worry about.
Philip: Really? Are you sure you wouldn't still like to go out and lick the spoon?
Brad: Gotta stay fit. I'm #2 spoon in Beauty and the Beast on Ice.
Philip: (smirking) So many of our great actors started out playing cutlery.
Bobby: (to Simon) All those screaming girls. You guys must've...oh, right.
Maddy: Man, Daddy, if you had just been gay, my life would've been so much better!
Audrey: Maddy, if your father had been gay, you wouldn't have been born.
Mace: If the drug stores weren't closed for St. Paddy's Day, you wouldn't have been born.
Maddy: You were in a boy band?
Bobby: Told you they were all gay.
Philip: It's an 80's jungle out there. All these middle-aged ladies in Cross My Heart sweatshirts kept trying to get me to pop'n'lock.
Mace: (forcing the words out) You're a really sexy guy. Any man would be lucky to get with you.
Philip: Ok, would you please stop. Compared to Brad, you know I...
Mace: Phil, you are one big piece of man candy!
Philip: Um, you two dated?
Liz: Uh oh.
Liz: Thank you, but I think love means never having to say I'll burn you.
Maddie: Geeze dad, maybe you should run for president of the "clueless" club.
Mace: Who said what?
Billy Masters of the infamous filth2go website reported that Jordan Knight, of New Kids on the Block, tried out for the part of Brad. When he found out that the character was gay, he assumed that the starstruck casting director would immediately rewrite the part. Not so. Upon being told he could go if the part didn't suit him, Jordan stormed out in a huff, crying something along the lines of, "I'm not gay!"
Although possibly unintentional, part of the storyline (two straight boy band members languishing in the background, while the two most popular members were secretly gay and in an on-again, off-again relationship) resembles the true story of Jon Moss and Boy George of Culture Club. The only difference would be that Simon apparently never got hooked on heroin or made a flop musical with Rosie O'Donnell.
Chris Sieber does his own singing in the final group number, and does quite a good job. He makes the 3rd cast member to sing in an episode.
