  • A New Beginning

Sense this sight doesn't have a weekly review for this show I guess I'll do one myself. With Sunny moving to the new FXX I was very curious to see what if any changes would be made to the format of this show. Would it be more raunchy? Would it have a higher budget? Would it be completely the same? I think the answer to this is a mix of everything. It was different to have pretty much the entire episode not take place around the bar and to an even greater extent revolve pretty much solely on Dee. Look I love Dee I think Kaitlin Olson is one of the greatest female comedians of this generation but I think this episode did lack a little bit of Mac Charlie and Frank. Heck even a small B plot of one of three would have in my opinion made the episode a bit more well rounded. Dennis had some good material but not enough to make up for the lack of the other three zaniest characters on the show. I know why they did this because Dee rarely gets a huge episode devoted to her and yes she nailed it here and was very funny but something was off about the format for me. Did I laugh? Of course I did as do I every week but a little something was missing from making this episode great. The ending however was brilliant. It completely did not feel right to see Dee have this much or frankly any success and so I knew she would mess it up somehow. It was more so a question of when not if. It made perfect sense that Frank, Charlie and Mac would set this all up to just mess with Dee and I have to admit they got me too. I was ready to come away a little bit aggravated that they ended an episode so optimistically but true to Its Always Sunny form it ended it bitter and cruel form true to the magic of the show. Going back to if the new network garnered any changes to how the show went. It did seem a tad bit more raunchy in terms of language. Dee was going pretty vulgar in her stand up routine which was cool and I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed but everything seemed brighter in this episode lighting wise like they stepped it up a bit in the production value. Overall this was a promising start to what looks like to be a creatively new season of It's Always Sunny.moreless
  • The Gang Broke this show

There was an occasional good line here and there, and I liked the twist at the end, but this was just painful on so many levels. The show has lost all its charm and luster and is now full of fart and genital jokes from start to finish.

Disappointing premiere. Why start the new season revolving around Dee?
