It's Me Gerald

Show Summary

It's Me Gerald is a TV sitcom and fictional reality show about a gay Broadway director's struggles in getting his play to the big stage. Filmmaker Gerald L'Ecuyer directs the series and stars as the extravagant and visionary director with the same name. After many failed Broadway productions, Gerald is quite sure that his next show, a production from a Norwegian playwright named Hedda Gabler, will be a hit. The problem is that no one in New York believes in him anymore. Film crews follow Gerald around town as he seeks money from a cheapskate executive producer named Mr. Edwards (John McLaughlin) and advice from a priest (Rawl Banton) and Tina (Kelly Hope Taylor), his therapist. Gerald schedules a casting call, even though his project is not even financed, and discovers Stef (Stefanie Drummond), a struggling and unemployed actress. Together, the director and the actress take on the complicated New York theatre district bureaucracy and fail miserably in each episode. Just as he is about to give up, Gerald meets a gay loan shark (Ross McKie) who takes interest in financing his project.
