  • The Adventures of Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe, full of derry-do and chivalry. A cheap, but real thrill.

I feel so old... I used to watch this show in syndication back in the late '50's and early '60's and was smitten with the main character, Roger Moore, who, at that time was an underpaid, underappreciated actor. I thought he'd go far, I really did, and I was right. This show was a lot of fun for me as a kid, and I learned some things from it, too. Right out of England, the actors were all English and spoke with authentic accents, which was a thrill for me. The sets were pretty cheap, especially when the actors had to do things "outdoors," but I was able to suspend disbelief for a while during the 30 minutes that it was on. I learned things about that period, too: about chivalry, the knight's code, the history of the period, etc. TV didn't always rot the brain. If this show ever hits DVD, I'll be amazed, but I'd buy it for the nostalgia value.moreless
