Nah, it's the same old thing, the fire dies when they get together. Lois and Clark, Sam and Diane, Sybil Sheppard and Bruce Willis on "Moonlighting", you name it, it doesn't make for better tv. No matter how satisfying it is for the moment (and I too would have liked to see it) , it's not worth it in the end. So much of the humor of "Jack" came from the romantic tension between them, and I don't think they could afford to lose that. The only thing they could have done (and they did play around with this idea in one of the later episodes) is the old "amnesia/I didn't know what I was doing" schtick.
