Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • The fight between the Daring Dragoon and Capt. Brogard on the bridge is the source of much of the Dragoon's footage in the opening title sequence. (This supports, with the carrier parrot scene, the idea this episode was one of the earliest filmed, but not shown in order.)

    • Nitpick: Jack and Emilia act as if they have never met Jean Claude the carrier parrot when he appears in spite of the fact that Jean Claude was an old buddy of theirs in the episode "The Floundering Father". TV shows are often filmed out of order, occasionally creating such continuity problems.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Croque: (referring to an American gold shipment stolen by the Governor) I hope you are not upset that your little fledgling democracy was emasculated on the open seas, Jack.
Jack: (raising his glass) Not if it means free booze.

    • Jack: (trying to deflect attention from Annie to Brogard) We were just trying to find your soft spots. And I think we found the weak link.
Captain Brogard: I detect an insulting implication in your statement, Monsieur.
Jack: I'm sorry. What I meant was you're a moron!

    • Emilia: Jack, the way you handled that little girl was, well, very touching. Seems that just when I have you figured out you surprise me.
Jack: Are you kidding me? A man'll say anything to keep a woman from crying- it's like nails on a chalkboard!

    • Jack: (preparing to use Emilia's new bungee) Well, they say rubber is 99% effective.

    • Emilia: (speaking in veiled terms about Jack) Let's not forget those who look normal on the outside but are in fact Lucifer's Minions sent from the bowels of Hell to torture us.
Jack: Then there's the women who love them.

    • Emilia: Oh, erm... I dropped my napkin.
Jack: Chivalry is dead! Get it yourself.
