Show Summary

Jackanory is a British TV show for kids that features over 40 years of children's stories and fairy tales narrated by some famous actors. The British Broadcasting Company films hundreds of actors sitting down with kids each week with an interesting story to tell. Actor Lee Montague stops by the show to read Cap of Rushes and the fairy tale Mr. & Mrs. Vinegar. British Shakespearean actress Dilys Hamlett gives kids her rendition of The Twelve Dancing Princesses by the Brothers Grimm. Jackanory presents a range of well-known classic stories, including Mary Poppins, Pippi Longstocking, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Tom Thumb. Helena Bonham Carter reads Ann Philippa Pearce's Way to Sattin Shore, and Enid Lorimer narrates Hans Christian Andersen's tale of trolls and sorceresses in the Snow Queen. Some of the other famous faces that stop by the show to tell stories include Judi Dench, Arthur Lowe, Maggie Smith and Patrick Stewart.
