Episode Summary

EDIT
Angela is one of the first women in combat, and is made a hero. But she knows all too well that she's no hero- how could she be, when she was terrified during every moment of it? She considers resigning her commission, but this causes more problems, as people take sides on the issue of the role of women in the armed forces. Something has to give, and it does, when Angela is found floating in the Mediterranean. Did she take the only way out she could find, or is there something even more sinister going on aboard the carrier? It's up to Lt Harmon Rabb and Lt Kate Pike of the Judge Advocate General Corps to find the answers, no matter where this takes them.moreless

  • excellent start

    9.9
brilliant start to an absolutely brilliant show. double episode which is good, i'm glad not every episode was that long though.

Although the episode doesnt feature Meg, its still good. I love how instantly we can see the relationship between Kate Pike and Harm.

Its funny to look back at Harm, such a younger looking face!

The Pilot gives us a good insight into what we could have expected from the show. And I like season one the best out of all of them because of their great story lines, and this episodes kind of sums it up!

    like I said a brilliant episode!moreless
  • What a great episode.

    9.7
This was a great pilot episode. Even though at this time, the sets were basic, and rudamentary, it showed the greatness to come. This episode also has some charaters that are not in the later seasons. But also has some that are and recurred or stared in the whole run of the series. This pilot also showed the intricate mix of action, comedy, chemistry and drama, that only improved throughout the series. The episode does show some signs of dating now being over 10 years old, but is great and has an almost theatrical feel to it. This episode also details the story of how Rabb 'lost' his wings.moreless

  • TRIVIA (4)

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Admiral Brovo: You need a sense of humour, Teddy. Otherwise people are going to think you're a lawyer.
Cmdr Lindsey: (confused) I am a lawyer, sir.

    • Bud: (knocking at the hatch at "Ladies' Country") Male personnel on deck! (to Lt Pike) You have to loudly announce yourself, then wait thirty seconds before entering.
Kate: Does that include me? (she goes inside, leaving Bud looking confused)

    • Harm: Not all women in the Navy feel the way you do about having a lover. Thank God!

    • Harm: Okay, you're both pursuing theories based on gender bias.
      Kate: And you're not?
Harm: No, I like the idea of going to sea with women.

    • Kate: Want to bet on who gets in first?
Harm: But you've got a head start.
      Kate: What a man.
Harm: Thank you, but you still have a head start.
Kate: You want to bet or whine?
      (Harm opens the safe)
      Harm: Bet.

    • CAG: You with me, Lieutenant?
Lt Angela Arutti: To hell and back, sir.

    • Kate: Those wings look good on you. (points to the gold wings on the uniform)
Harm: Well, you know what they say about gold wings and dress whites. They'll get you in bed anywhere.
      Kate: Except here.

    • Harm: Can you get in?
      Kate: Of course. Can you?

  • NOTES (1)
