Episode Summary

EDIT
Father's Day
AIRED:

Due to frustration at being unable to wrest custody of his son from his drug addicted wife, Corporal Wetzel was distracted during a war game exercise and crashed a tank. Accused of dereliction of duty, Wetzel admits to being diverted on the job, but insists that Mac and Harm must keep him out of jail, since his arrest would certainly mean losing his son. Harm and Mac like Wetzel and understand that his frustration accounts for his poor judgment. But nobody's more surprised than they when Wetzel winds up in a tank in a stand-off with the military, questioning why he's being forced to choose between being a marine and being a father.

  • This was a wonderful episode. In the armed forces so many think that you have to be either a father or a soldier. So many have children, but hardly ever get to be with them.moreless

Commander Rabb was great. At the beginning the comment about expenses due to the commanders’ excessive nature was interesting. I personally do not think that one case should out weigh another based on dereliction of duty or murder. The commander did learn his lesson that he hadn’t put his entire effort into the case. I didn’t quite get the Quantum Leap convention, what the point was there. Drugging the Sgt. was and interesting turn for the worse. However, I see why the Corporal did it; he felt he was losing his son and that the only way to save him was to kidnap him. Is it considered kidnapping if the father has the child? I know about the restraining order, but I mean just in general. I know it’s not considered that if the mother has the child. Sorry, went off the show. I did like the scene with the corporal in the tank. It showed that he does know what he’s doing inside one. At the beginning they thought he was ignorant. Commander did a great job in getting the grandmother to come to the rescue. Sometimes all it takes is the wisdom from the woman that raised you. That is the woman’s primary objective to nurture and to comfort when it comes to their children.moreless
  • Love the episode funny, intense...

Great episode! I liked many things: Harm being introduced to Dalton, and calling him Loan or something, that tension between them.... Harm in the motel room sharing bed with Bud- that was so so funny, but interesting because he and Bud have a talk about relationships; I loved the story of Corporal Wetzel, it's very emotional, also the attitude that harm gets towards him is fantastic... And the music theme is also very emotional. I liked the participation of Donald P Bellisario : )moreless
