True Callings
AIRED:

Harm's fitness report is coming up and he faces the realization that maybe it really is too late to be a fighter pilot.

During a dangerous mission over hostile Serbian territory, Harm's wingman's plane is shot up and Harm performs top-gun maneuvers to keep the disabled plane aloft until it's over friendly territory.

Meanwhile, with a new Gunny in the office, Bud & Tiner fall over themselves as they compete against each other in an online auction to purchase tickets to a concert, in order to impress the Admiral. They end up looking foolish when it is discovered that the Gunny got the same tickets for free.

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (0)

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Boomer: Harm, we all thought it was time you got a new call sign. The CAG told us about your father. It sounds like he was almost as crazy as his son. Besides, you're way too young to be called 'Pappy'.
(Boomer gives Harm a helmet with "Hammer" written on it)
      Harm: 'Hammer'?
Boomer: That was his call sign, wasn't it sir? We'll get it painted up right away.
Captain Pike: I don't think your dad would mind.

    • Tuna: Head for the boat and let us eject in peace, will you Harm?
Harm: Into the hands of those maniacs? I don't think so!
      Tuna: We're going down!
      Harm: No you're not!

    • Harm: This was back in the days when I was sure they were going to name an airport after me. A small airport, but...

    • Miss Baresha: Serbs came to our village after NATO bombing. They shot young men, and took women and girls to basement of school.
      Harm: I'm sorry.
Miss Baresha: The other girls, they tell their families Serbs only made them make coffee. No matter what, it was just, 'They made me make coffee.' To avoid shame. Look at me! (looks down at her very pregnant stomach) It is more than coffee!

  • NOTES (3)

    • International Episode Titles:
Czech Republic: Idealni povolani (Ideal Occupation)

    • Harm's RIO, Elizabeth "Skates" Hawkes, mentions that she was almost killed in a ramp strike. This happened during the episode "Crossing the Line".

    • This incident with Harm pushing Tuna by his tailhook out of enemy territory was based on an actual incident. On March 10, 1967, USAF Captain Robert Pardo used his F-4 Phantom to push a fellow American's badly damaged jet from North Vietnam into friendly territory.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Gunny: The whole Junior Woodchuck survival guide.

The Junior Woodchucks are the Disney Universe's version of the Boy Scouts, and Donald Duck's nephews Huey, Louie and Dewey are Junior Woodchucks. The Junior Woodchucks always carry the Junior Woodchucks Guidebook, which is filled with all the necessary facts to aid the Woodchucks in making the proper decision in any given situation, even though the Guidebook itself is shown as being a small, thin paperback.
