Did anyone else take the test yesterday? It was pretty difficult, but that was to be expected. I know at least one other person at TV.com took the test. He kept track of his correct and incorrect answers, but I didn't. I tried to get through the test as quickly as possible so that I could answer all of the questions while I was at my peak concentration level.

I think I did pretty well. Out of the 50 questions, I only left 4 blank. I may have missed a couple others, but I'm fairly confident that I got all the other ones correct. You only had 15 seconds to answer each question and as soon as you answered one, the timer began for the next question. At least in the regular game you get a brief moment to relax before moving on to the next question. Not here.

I'd like to hear about other experiences with the test. It'll be interesting to see if any of us make it to the regional auditions and possibly onto the show.

It's still going on. Tonight's test says that it's for viewers in the Central and Mountain Time Zones. Tomorrow's test is for viewers in the Pacific Time Zone. I'm not sure if you actually have to be in those zones to take each night's test, but you can only take the test once this week.

Here's the link: Jeopardy! Online Contestant Test.

Register well in advance and log in 15 minutes before the test begins (at 8 pm CENTRAL tonight; 8 pm PACIFIC on Thur.). You have to answer 50 questions with a 15-second time limit for each one. It's not easy so be prepared to rack your brains for 10-15 minutes during the test.

You have to be 18 years or older. You're not eligible if you've taken the Jeopardy! 50 question test within the last 12 months, or if you've ever appeared as a contestant on the show with Alex Trebek. There are other limitations too (limits on how many game shows/reality shows you've appeared on in the last 10 years; no family members that work for King World, local TV stations that air Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, etc.).

The questions are different each night for obvious reasons. Good luck everyone!

Wow. If those are the correct answers, I think I scored 35 or 36! Seems nearly all my "unsures/educated guesses" were correct.

I really wish I'd asked around for a camcorder to borrow to record the test.

I was browsing the official Sony Jeopardy! forum for info about when notifications would be sent for the auditions. Someone said that people who took the in-person test in L.A. did not receive notification for several weeks.

There were undoubtedly far more people taking the three online tests last week so it could be at least that same amount of time, and maybe longer. Though the test was completely electronic, they will have to re-check any answers that were not spelled completely accurately. They said that it wasn't a spelling test so they will have to go back and grade those answers either "by hand" or through some advanced computer program.

Whatever the process, it seems unlikely that decisions about auditions will be forthcoming this week. I'll post any additional news here.

According to the administrator at the official Jeopardy! forums at Sony, nearly 100,000 applicants took one of the online tests. Invitations have started going out but they will be staggered depending on the audition city you selected.

Chosen applicants will receive an email between 2 and 6 weeks before the tryouts with information about the audition in their city. Additional cities and call-back auditions may be added later in the year.

This is the current audition schedule, as of April 7th:

    Late April/Early May

    Indianapolis, IN
    St. Louis, MO
    Boston, MA

    Mid/Late May

    New York, NY
    Philadelphia, PA
    Washington, D.C.

    Early June

    Minneapolis, MN
    Chicago, IL

    Mid/Late June

    Orlando, FL
    Portland, OR
    San Francisco, CA

    Late Summer (TBD)

    Atlanta, GA

    Ongoing

    Los Angeles, CA

If you are invited to the tryouts you will:

-- Play a "mock version" of Jeopardy! to assess your game-playing skills

-- Take part in a short personality interview

    -- Be re-tested with a new, different 50-question test.

Keep your fingers crossed and watch your email!

Emails have been going out nationwide. Recipients have 2 business days to reply or else they lose their place. This means that even if you don't get an email during the 1st wave, there may be additional spots that open up because people forgot to check their inboxes or spam folders.

I guess no one here made it to the auditions. Oh well. There's always next year. Only nine months left to brush up on your Shakespeare, Cicero, potent potables, Matisse, and a few dozen other subjects.
