This February, the two all-time top Jeopardy! winners will be going up against a computer named Watson. Brad Rudder and Ken Jennings are going to take on a smart computer that can process the responses to many clues. Will machine beat human brains, or will one of the two destroy Watson?

My money is on Watson. Tough to beat the computer when it appears they have overcome their major challenge of getting Watson to be able to understand the idioms and nuances of the English language. I am looking forward to next week.

Man, AI was kicking arse especially against Ken and then started falling apart (e.g., years). Heh. I like the introduction, brief scenes (same as NOVA's documentary), etc. Cool stuff. I can't wait to see days/parts #2 and #3! Go IBM Watson! Also, I made a poll about this Jeopardy event on http://www.aqfl.net/node/8796 ...

This was very cool. I may have to change my prediction for the winner. It seems like Watson will clean up on the lower dollar amount questions but as they were getting more difficult, it started to struggle. What a huge blunder to ring in and say the same answer that was already called wrong once too. Looking forward to the next two episodes.

Seems like a massive commercial for IBM if you ask me. On the second day now, and it is perhaps the most boring episode of Jeopardy I've ever seen. Of course a computer would be faster at pressing a button!

    http://www.tv.com/qanda-with-watson-ibms-jeopardy!-playing-trivia-machine/story/25168.html is a funny Q&A interview. Haha.

Wow, did IBM Watson slaughter humans on day/part #2.

It's a hoax the computer can't win cause if it did so many people would probably be upset.

You know that computer that beat someone playing checkers or chess many years back? Well, once again, machine has beat the human brain. I had some crazy notion that Watson would beat Brad and Ken. Watching those players go up against Watson reminds me of a game that aired a few years back on GSN called 20Q. Are anynof you familiar with that 20 questions game?

Anyway, I enjoyed watching the Watson challenge on Jeopardy! two weeks ago.

In 2011 the 38th season of NOVA's sixth episode titled "Smartest Machine on Earth" details the creation of watson the super computer that competed on Jeopardy.
