  • Season 1 Episode 14: Black Jack

  • The map of the United States has the following US cities.
Marked in red (nuked cities): Seattle WA, San Francisco CA, Los Angeles CA, San Diego CA, Phoenix AZ, St. George UT, Denver CO, Houston TX, Dallas TX, Lawrence KS, Minneapolis MN, Chicago IL, Detroit MI, Miami FL, Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, Washington DC, Baltimore MD, Pittsburgh PA, Philadelphia PA, Hartford CT, and Boston MA. There are 22 red marks altogether.
Marked in blue (federal capitals): Sacramento CA, Cheyenne WY, San Antonio TX, Montgomery AL, Columbus OH, Rome NY.

  • Goof: In the final scene of the episode, Sarah's keystrokes clearly do not match the words appearing on-screen.

  • News posted on the giant news message board at the Black Jack trading post.

  • In this episode it's revealed Johnston Green is a retired army Ranger. In "Crossroads" we learned that Johnston's father (Jake's grandfather) was an army ranger at D-day. This makes being an army ranger a family legacy. Jake is seen wearing dog tags in an earlier episode. Was he too an army ranger?

  • The Morse Code Message heard over the title is:
    BLEEDING KS

  • There are six capital cities in the United States representing the Federal Government. There are five additional "Presidents" bringing a total of six people claiming to have power in the United States.

  • Season 1 Episode 15: Heart of Winter

  • Nitpick: When Mimi found Jake pinned underneath the truck, he was pinned underneath the roof of the truck, with the bed sticking upward. She and Stanley (after he woke up) could have pressed down on the bed of the truck. This would have made it easier to pull Jake out sooner. They could have done the same when the rescue crew came later that night.

  • The names and current status of Hawkins' team according to the Old man's computer:

    Woodworth: Terminated
    Pierce: Terminated
    Ritts: Terminated
    Miller: Whereabouts unknown
    Hawkins: Whereabouts unknown
    Mason: Whereabouts unknown
    Chavez: Whereabouts unknown
    Cheung: Whereabouts unknown

  • The Morse code message heard over the title is:
    4 DOWN 4 TO GO

This relates to the number of team members on Robert's and Sarah's team. 4 are dead and 4 are alive.

  • Season 1 Episode 16: Semper Fidelis

  • Goof: There is a major flaw in the episode although it looks impressive. The "Marines" would never be able to drive their tank from town to town, especially in a place like rural Kansas, where the population centers are so far apart. An M1 Abrams tank consumes fuel at a rate of about two gallons per mile, so they would burn an incredible amount of fuel. Because of this, tanks are transported by rail or airlifted to the spot where they are to be used.

  • Goof: When Hawkins sends the messages at the end of the episode, he does not hit the right keys on the keypad.

  • The Morse code message heard over the title is:
    THEY WILL NEED IT

  • Johnston Green heard one of the Marines say Hooah and says that is what soldiers in the Army say. Oorah is what Marines say while Army soldiers say Hooah.

  • Goof: The tank featured in "Semper Fidelis" is a British Chieftain standing in for an M-1 Abrams.

  • Title: Semper Fidelis

Latin for "Always Faithful." It is also a motto for various cities and military organizations including the English city of Exeter and the U.S. Marine Corps.

  • Season 1 Episode 17: Winter's End

  • There is a patient called Mr. Ostrowski in the medical center; Mike Ostrowski is an supervising producer and writer on the show.

  • The Morse code message heard over the title is:
    A COSTLY DEAL

  • Goof:
    Man from neighboring city
: It's a power generating wind turbine. We get about 1500 watts an hour out of one of these.
Watts, the standard unit of power, is defined as joules (energy) per second (time). So to claim something generates watts per hour is a time derivative of power and makes no sense in this context.

  • Nitpick: If the ground was frozen so hard that they couldn't dig under Jake's foot to free him, how is Hawkins able to dig a big enough hole to bury Sara with that dinky little shovel?

  • Season 1 Episode 18: One Man's Terrorist

  • Goof: The coordinates given to Hawkins at the start of the show (40 49 57.28 / 96 41 47.8) actually point to State Fair Park in Lincoln, Nebraska rather than McCook which it located at coordinates: (40 12 22.13 / -100 37 15.71). In addition, technically the latitude should have been (-96 41 47.8) negative to denote a western direction as 96 41 47.8 gives coordinates for northern China.
