Lawyer: Before we sign, we'd like to hear what your witness has to say. Alex: And why is that necessary? Lawyer: Because you might be bluffing. (Alex, Joey and Michael all burst out laughing) Alex: I don't think so. Lawyer: Please. Alex: Okay. Joey, why don't you prove to these people beyond the shadow of a doubt that we are not bluffing. Michael, let's hold hands. Joey: Uhh, yes... I remember the day very well... Especially the science... stuff. A lot of numbers were used... Six, twelve, fourteen... all the usual suspects.
Joey: Where are you from? Glen: Minnesota. Joey: Wow, you're English is great.
Gina: I haven't been in a lawsuit since that dog-biting thing. Joey: Whoa, whoa, whoa. A dog bit you? Michael: No, no. She bit the dog.
Joey: (interviewing Glen) Time for the serious questions: who would win in a fight between Dracula and the Wolfman? Glen: That's easy, Wolfman. Joey: No way, how? Glen: Because the Wolfman would fight Dracula to a draw until dawn, when Dracula would die and the Wolfman would turn back into a regular guy. Joey: I've never thought of it that way before. This changes everything!
Joey: (interviewing Glen for assistant position) All right, Glen, I'm in bed, I call you asking for a snack. What do you bring me? Glen: I would have to say pizza, because you can eat it without the use of utensils, and you can lay the pizza box on your chest so you can eat it while still lying down. Joey: I gotta say, Glen, you're blowing me away.
Joey: Oh please. Every guy has a disgusting folder on his computer. Michael: There's nothing disgusting on my computer. Joey: Oh really? Why don't you check a folder called "Joey's Tax Stuff"?
This is the first appearance of Richard Ruccolo as Glen. He was in 3 episodes of Joey. Richard Ruccolo was also previously one of the stars of Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizza Place (later changed to Two Guys and A Girl). This show was ABC's answer to Friends (on which LeBlanc played Joey) and had many similarities. It ran from 1998 to 2001.
Simon Helberg (Seth) will also go on to play another nerdy scientist type as one of the stars of The Big Bang Theory.
Gina says that she'll have to watch Sister Act by herself. Sister Act was a hit movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, about a lounge singer who has to hide from the mob by by joining a convent and pretending to be a nun. It was also made into a sequel.
Joey mentioned watching the A-Team and Mr. T. The A-Team was a popular 80's adventure drama about a team of highly trained ex military operatives who helped those in need. Mr. T was one of the stars of that show, most noted for his mohawk and the large amount of jewelry he wears.
Seth calls Alex Ally McBeal. Ally McBeal was the title character in the show of the same name. It was about a plucky lawyer and the ups and downs of her life.
Joey asks Glen who would win in a fight between Dracula and the Wolfman. These characters have been popularized since the beginning of motion pictures. They have been the subject of countless movies and shows. In the early films, they were always referred to as Dracula and the Wolfman, though that later became vampires and werewolves. The question of who would win in a fight between vampires and werewolves has also been the subject of many movies, most recently the Underworld franchise. Dracula was originally based on a charcater in a novel by Bram Stoker. Bram Stoker himself based the character off of the legend of Vlad the Impaler.
Joey asks the first assistant he interviews which Die Hard movie he would bring back, and the correct answer was all three. Die Hard is a hugely popular series of action movies starring Bruce Willis about a cop and the large scale situations he always finds himself in. It has been made into 4 films, but at the time this episode aired there were only 3.
Glen: I would have to say pizza... This may be an allusion to the fact that Richard Ruccolo (Glen) was a cast member on Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place.
