  • Cliffhanger :p

This was a great cliffhanger, shame the series seem to grind to a close afterwards. This was definatly one of the best episodes of the series, Dean now truely on the seen could become a nemisis ?Stillwaiting to see the next episode is going to be a pain but thankfully its not far off fo us in the sunny UK., As for this episode certainly holds depth of plot over some of the previous. Its a nice twist putting the will he/won\'t on an emotional side which is a far cry from the normal Joey of dumbly but amusingly bounding forward with great comedy value.

  • Joey goes with zac and michael to Tijuana. While beeing drunk Joey and Zac get married

I'd have to say this episode is as good as one of the best Friends Episodes. I'll never forget the face on Matt Leblanc when he sees that the weding tape is not michael but his and zac's. I Really enjoyed it and I really hope this won't be the last Joey Episode
  • now wait a sec. didn't i see this one already? oh no, it was friends!

Looks like they pulled open the can that said:"ideas from 'friends' that might actually be useful for a 'joey' episode." Let me take you back to season one of 'friends' and to show the things that are identical I will put the names of 'joey' behind the names from 'friends'.

Ross (Alex) has a crush on Rachel (Joey) for quite some time. Ross (Alex) buys a very expensive gift, a broche (Snow in California). when Rachel (Joey) gets this gift, she start to realise that she might have feelings for Ross (Alex). Then she decides to go for it, goes to the airport (Alex' apartment), only to see Ross (Alex) with another girl (man).

    Coincedence? You tell me!

Oh and just to be clear, I didn't think that this episode sucked, I'm just saying it was pretty familiar.moreless
  • This was a fine example of what 'Joey' should be. It should be a funny comedy while mixing drama moments and romance. Much like 'Friends' Joey has problems with the girl he actually loves...moreless

Joey has to think about Alex and see if they should really go at it. This was a hilarious episode (the gay marriage thing was hilarious!) and this is a perfectly good show. It might not be Emmy material, but I thought this episode was. Please NBC, Bring it Back!
  • Having watched this as the second half of a one hour broadcasting block I'm including the previous episode. The running theme of these two episodes is having fun and growing up. They are presented as being opposed to one another, and demonstrate this thromoreless

Right out of the gate, I know from nothing about this series except the one other episode I watched early on in the first season. So, I know Joey from Friends and his sister and nephew. The other characters were new to me, but I caught on in the one hour I had with them (such is the beauty of good TV writing). I'm not home on Thursdays, so I don't watch Thursday shows -- more's the pity as this one seems to have grown a great deal since I last happened to catch it. I hope it is brought back for the fans and for new fans to be developed. The supporting cast is excellent and there's just enough growth in Joey to really like him.

Using Joey and Alex's relationship to examine growth and fun and a reconciling of the two, while remaining funny and touching (without being too much so) is a difficult balancing act. As a block, this episode and the one immediately preceeding it are TV gold -- well done, entertaining, and engaging.moreless

  • QUOTES (0)

  • NOTES (1)

    • As of this episode, Joey went on hiatus for a while in an attempt to revamp the show. It was drawing an average of 8 million viewers per episode, but NBC had higher expectations and was unhappy with the ratings. The show's hiatus was considered to be the killing blow for the series. After months off the scheduling line up, the show returned to even weaker ratings and continued to hemorrage viewers with each new episode. Eventually the show was pulled from the line up and cancelled. The remaining episodes only aired in other countries, never in the U.S.

    • Alex asks if Gina ever wonders why she doesn't have more friends. Gina replies that she has Alex and Cheryl from the Psychic Friends Network.

The Psychic Friends Network was founded in 1990. It allowed callers watching the show to call a 900 number for $3.99 a minute. They amassed fortune and popularity very quickly and were named the Top Infomercial in 1995. However, they lost popularity quickly after that and filed bankruptcy in 1998. This episode aired in December of 2005, and therefore there was no Psychic Friends Network for Gina to call.

    • When Joey is going to get the champagne and mentions getting chocolate syrup and whip cream, Alex says 'Oh, a little 9 1/2 weeks?'

9 1/2 weeks was a movie starring Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke. The plot revolved around the length of the couple's sadomasochistic relationship. It is best known for its graphic depiction of sex. One of the most popular scenes involved the use of food during sex.

    • While name dropping, Zach mentions Marlon Wayans, Jackee, Judge Judy, Elvira, and Cedric the Entertainer.

Marlon Wayans is one of the comedic Wayans Brothers who helped to develop and star in In Living Color. He has done many other film and television roles as well.

Jackée Harry is an actress most noted for her role in the hit sitcom 227. She has also been in many other movies and television shows.

Judge Judy (AKA Judy Sheindlin) is a real life judge who has made a fortune with the success of her People's Court style television show, also named Judge Judy.

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (AKA Cassandra Peterson) got her start hosting Fright Night. Since then she has portrayed the same role in countless shows and movies, even starring in her own movie and most recently the reality show The Search For The Next Elvira. She has played someone other than Elvira on occasion, but rarely.

Cedric the Entertainer is a very successful comedian most notable for his role in The Steve Harvey Show. He tours the country, and has also starred in many movies and TV shows.

    • When Joey is trying to show Zach and Michael that women would reject him if he acted like they did, he mentions that he has Return of the Jedi sheets and Patrick Swayze.

Return of the Jedi is the 3rd made of the Star Wars films (6th in continuity) by George Lucas, and has spawned countless products.

Patrick Swayze is a prolific actor most notable for his roles in Dirty Dancing and Ghost, and most recently his new series The Beast.

    • Joey says that because of misreading a page number he ended up on a date with Val Kilmer.

Val Kilmer is a prolific actor most notable for his roles in Top Gun, Willow, Batman Forever, and most recently the new Knight Rider series.

    • When Bobbie walks in and sees Gina and Alex hugging, she says that she's walked into a Lifetime Original movie. 'Will Meredith Baxter Birney win her battle with bulimia?'

The Lifetime Channel is geared towards female viewership. Their feature length shows are called Lifetime Original movies.

Meredith Baxter is an actress most famous for her role as the mother in Family Ties. She also did many made for television movies, one of which was Kate's Secret, about a closet bulimic.

    • Joey says that many women turned him down after the death of Princess Diana.

Princess Diana, or Princess Di, was the first wife of Prince Charles. She was well loved across the globe, and died August 31st, 1997 at the age of 36.

    • When Joey says he is going to go get the whip cream and chocolate syrup. Then Alex references 9 1/2 Weeks.

9 1/2 Weeks is a movie starring Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger about a woman who has an impersonal affair for 9 1/2 weeks. One of the most famous scenes from the movie is when the couple uses food during sex.
