  • Trivia

  • Quotes

    • Joey: (to his dad) You think I look down on you, but it's the opposite. I used to walk through New York, point to buildings and say: "My dad did the plumbing in there. So if you use one of their bathrooms stand up before you flush, because that thing will turn you inside out!"

    • Bobbie: (about Joey's movie premiere) Are you excited?
Joey: Are you kidding me! I'm so worked up about this, today I woke up at noon!

    • Joey: Have you seen the billboard?
Bobbie: Of course. The whole town is talking about it, I mean how hot does Carmen Electra look.
Joey: No, my billboard! It's right next to hers.
Bobbie: How did I miss it. I was driving down Sunset, staring at Carmen, and I realised I'd driven up on the sidewalk. And then... I hit something and I sure hope it was a mannequin 'cause it split in half.

    • (Bobbie is wearing a really tight dress to the premiere)
Bobbie: Joey, I'm gonna need your jacket.
      Joey: Why?
Bobbie: I just Incredible Hulked the back of my dress.

    • Alex: Hey, What's wrong with your dad. He got a problem with Joey?
Gina: I don't know what's going on with him lately. Every time Joey's name comes up, he gets all grumpy.
Alex: Oh, well that's not right. This is a huge night for Joey. He flew him out here. Uhhh. Just like my mom when I graduated from law school.
      Gina: 3 seconds.
      Alex: What?
Gina: 3 seconds before you made it about you.

  • Allusions

    • Bobbie says that the whole not eating thing is killing her, and at least when Ghandi did it he didn't have to sit through crap like Joey's movie.

Mohandas Ghandi is best known for starting the civil disobedience movement as a means of resisting tyranny. He famously organized and employed hunger strikes, going on long fasts as part of social protests. He died in 1948 at the age of 78, and is now considered the father of the nation of India.

    • Alex says that in 10th grade she played Maria in Westside Story.

Westside Story is a re-imagining of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet set to music for Broadway, which has run since 1957. It revolves around the love story and familial woes of Tony and Maria. It is also a book and has been made into a movie.

    • Joey Sr. says that he needs to be home in time to have a beer before Leno because it helps him get the jokes.

Leno is a reference to Jay Leno who has hosted The Tonight Show after Johnny Carson since 1992. Aside from his interviews with celebrities, Leno is known for his observational humor and monologues.

    • Bobbie says she Incredible Hulked the back of her dress. The Incredible Hulk is a character created by Stan Lee and is a property of Marvel Comics. It has spawned a television show and two movies in addition to its numerous comics. One of the trademarks of the Hulk is that when he changes, his clothes shred off.
