First, I have to say that i wish people would stop comparing JOEY to FRIENDS. They are two different shows and should be treated as such.

So here we go! This is one of those episodes that show you that this show works. Aside from the fact that John Larroquette guest-stars (which probably attracts viewers), the other guest starring and co-starring cast members did a great job. The storyline of Joey not realizing he follows Maria (Joyce Giraud), a gorgeous woman, into a ESL class is classic. And after, it's funny how the class becomes more important to him because he wants to be the smartest one in the class. So, of course, he has one rival (Boris) in the class fighting to get the "gold star" from the teacher, Ms. Lafferty (Mo Collins). Also, he has these great moments of bickering with Renata (Sharmila Devar), but ends up making himself look ridiculous. And then (one of the funniest moments in the episode) he asks Sonja (Caroline Choi), the class loner, to go get a cup of coffee and she rejects him!

Gina finding Bobbie a new client: This part of the episode wasn't as great, but what B storyline ever is? Even so, Jennifer Coolidge does an amazing job playing the character of Bobbie. Her comedic timing is always right on target, and she brings so much life to the lines. As always, John Larroquette is a joy to watch. Drea de Matteo also does a good job.

Overall, the episode in its entirety was great to watch.moreless

    • Joey says that while riding a tour bus back to the set they stopped to watch a scene from Gilmore Girls, and he wished he had a relationship like that with his mother. Gilmore Girls was a hit drama series about a mother who had a child young and their lives and loves as her daughter grows into a woman. A lot of the focus was on the mother/daughter bonding. Edit
    • Zach quotes a line, then saying it was Ms. Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing. Dirty Dancing was a hit movie about a summer romance between a willful girl and her dance instructor. It starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Edit
