On Joey's Magna Doodle: An old fashioned rotary phone.

In this episode Joey and Alex are watching a commercial advertising Joey's appearance on 'The Ellen Degeneres Show'. Then we see Joey walking across the stage and hugging Ellen during the commercial advertising the episode. The next day when Joey goes to tape the appearance on Ellen, she says 'nice to meet you' and he replies it is nice to meet her too; implying that they've never met. However, we had just seen them interact in the TV commercial; showing that they had in fact met before.
Joey: Remember how I used to bump into you, outside the gym. That's because I skipped math to see you. 5 days a week. 40 weeks per year. You know how many classes that is? Because I don't.
Ellen: Of cause I remember you. You're the worst actor ever we had on the show.
Zach: You do remember me.
Bobby: (to Gina about Alex) Who is your little gentleman friend?
Gina: Let me ask you something. Fortieth birthday is really important. Right?
Alex: Oh my god, Gina. You're turning 40. You look great!
Gina: (annoyed) We are talking about Bobby.
(Scene on the recorded tape)
Celeste: Mrs. Celeste Tribbiani.
Joey: We just had sex and you're thinking about my aunt?
Celeste: No silly. I am talking about us getting married.
Joey: (getting back at people walking in, while he is having sex) May be you could knock once in a while.
Michael: There's no door on the roof of my car.
Joey: Come on. Obviously I am not going to show you the actual sex. I am a very private person.
Bobby: Oh no! If it is something damning, it'll ruin your career. Then you will take me down with you.
Bobby: I got a call from a woman about a sex tape you made and she is threatening to release it.
Bobby: I know. Your career could use a little scandal; be great for your image.
Doctor: Good news Bobby. According to this charts, your health has improved remarkably. Your blood pressure is no longer in the stroke range. Your liver has rejuvenated; and that bullet seems to be dislodged itself.
Zach: Oh man! You are not in the Hollywood loop. Aren't you? Everyone knows Ellen and I don't get along.
Joey: I've said a lot of things for sex; I'm dying in a week. I'm going to war. (with a bad Spanish accent) Antonio Banderas is my brother.
Celeste: Joey! You are going to apologize to me on national television, or I will send that tape to Ellen, and Oprah, and I'm not going to stop 'til it's seen by every woman in America!
Joey: Every woman in America?! Those are the people I like to have sex with!!

Ellen Degeneres did have her own sitcom based loosely on her stand up act. It was a hit show until her character 'came out' and she lost her sponsors and the show was cancelled. Her career had just begun a tremendous upswing at the time of this show, and her talk show contributed greatly to that. Matt LeBlanc asked her to guest star during a real interview on her show, and she agreed. The actor who played Zach was never actually on Ellen's sitcom.
