    • According to many cross-overs, the universes of "Joey" and "The John Larroquette Show" are the same. However, John Larroquette's characters in both shows are different.

    • Goof: Joey confronts Kenny about his attitude saying, "The only reason you're acting like this is because no one told you you can't!" In the shot where Joey is saying this, Kenny is holding his bowl with his left hand. In the next shot he is holding it in his right hand.

      Lockwood: Ah. Twelfth Night?
      Joey: I don't remember the date now.

  • Notes

    • This is the first appearance of Carlos Gomez, the actor who plays the director in this episode. He has also appeared in Friends (he was Julio, the Latin waiter/poet who worked with Monica in that 60's dinner) and played opposite to Matthew Perry in Fools Rush In. He was in 2 episodes of Joey.

    • This is the first appearance of Paula Cale as Abby. She was in 3 episodes of Joey and receives the "And" credit.

  • Allusions

    • Gina said that she had to turn down Kevin Bacon for Alex's 'audition'.

      Kevin Bacon is a prolific actor and singer. He has been in many hit films such as A Few Good Men, Footloose, Apollo 13, and Wild Things; to name just a few. He has been in so many movies that a popular game, 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon, was created and named for him. He also sings in a band with his brothers, aptly named The Bacon Brothers.

    • Bobbie says they are doing a movie about the history of Mowtown, and then mentions Aretha Franklin.

      Motown Records was the first major record label to be owned by and primarily feature black artists. It was most known for its R&B and soul music with distinct pop influence, which became known as The Motown Sound. It was founded in 1959, but never featured Aretha Franklin as one of its artists.

      Aretha Franklin is a legendary singer also known as the Queen of Soul. She is the most honored Grammy winner of all time, with 20 wins. She has had 20 number 1 R&B hits, 2 number one Hot 100 hits, and 45 top 40 hits in her career. She is best known for such songs as I Knew You Were Waiting For Me and Chain of Fools, though R.E.S.P.E.C.T. is considered her signature song.

    • When Joey and Lockwood are arguing, Joey tells him not to quote Shakespeare.

      William Shakespeare, also known as The Bard, is considered to be the greatest writer in the English language. His works, dating back to the 1500s, include Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and MacBeth; to name just a few. His plays are performed more often than those of any other playwright.

    • Lockwood says that he needs to get his Oscar out of the pawn shop, as well as his Tony and his Latin Grammy.

      The Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, is arguably the most important film achievement. Each year since 1929; the Oscars honor actors, directors, and other film personal for their outstanding work.

      The Tony awards are given for outstanding achievements in Theatre, and have been given each year since 1947.

      The Latin Grammys are a sister show to the original Grammys, having been started in 2000 to recognize outstanding technical and artistic excellence in the world of Latin music.

    • When Howard is offering to throw his hat in for consideration to date Alex, he says 'I may be a simple man, but I know what love is.' This is a quote made famous by Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump, and later used by Tom Hanks during his Oscar acceptance speech when thanking his wife Rita Wilson.

    • Lockwood mentions the Twelfth Night when he meets Joey for the first time. The Twelfth Night is a comedy written by William Shakespeare in the 16th century. The story revolves around a mistaken identity incident.
