Gina says that she thinks of Alex as Shirley to her Laverne. Laverne & Shirley was hit sitcom starring Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams. It was as spin off from the show Happy Days and ran from 1976 to 1983. It revolved around the friendship and lives of the titular best friends.

Sara says that she'll call all her old flames too, and then mentions that fortunately the Tennessee Titans are all in training camp. The Tennessee Titans are a professional football team based in Nashville. They were previously known as the Houston Oilers before the transfer. For two years they were known as the Tennessee Oilers but then changed their names to the Titans.

Joey says that he still uses Carmen Electra's 1998 Baywatch calendar because it is so hot. Baywatch was once the most watched show on the planet, about a group of beach life guards and their adventures and dramas. A large portion of Carmen Electra's success and fame is due to her role on that show.

When Gina is cutting up the ties, she says 'Look at me, I'm Annie Hall'. Annie Hall is a movie by Woody Allen starring Diane Keaton. Annie Hall wore many ties in the movie, a style and reputation that has followed Keaton for her entire career.
