    • In The Unsinkable Johnny Bravo, during the romantic montage Johnny is seen drawing a portrait of Sheila. His drawing skills aren't very good, as he draws her only using stick figures. Johnny would later draw some more "sexy" drawings (as he calls them) in the episode One Angry Bravo, looking a little better than the one seen this episode, but still essentially a stick figure.

    • "Pookey" was also the name of the little pink cat who was the sidekick of the villainous Dr. Felonious from the Season One episode Blanky Hanky Panky.
    • In the episode The Unsinkable Johnny Bravo we see a grown-up Suzy in the future. Johnny's massive libido apparently has waned considerably over the years, as he doesn't make a pass at her.

    • Johnny: I never know which hand to eat the hotdog with.
    • (Sheila is on the lifeboat holding her blue umbrella. Johnny Bravo approaches)? Johnny: Hi, Sheila. Sheila: Oh, hi. Johnny: Can I join you? Sheila: Hmmm...nah. Johnny: But you've got plenty of room in there. Sheila: Well...I kinda like to stretch out.

    • Lady and the Tramp:

The scene from The Unsinkable Johnny Bravo where Mama Bravo is seen having dinner with the ship's captain, eating spaghetti while someone is playing an accordion in the background is a parody of the famous "Spaghetti sequence" from the 1955 Disney animated movie, Lady and the Tramp.

    • The episode Rashomoron is a spoof of Akira Kurosawa's 1950 movie Rashomon, in which there were also three persons telling the same story differently, from each one's point of view.
    • The Unsinkable Johnny Bravo is a reference to The Unsinkable Molly Brown, a movie and play about Margaret "Molly" Tobin Brown, famous for surviving the sinking of the Titanic and helping 23 other passengers reach safety.
