Great jazz, great location shooting, great background score, a moody private eye - what more could you want? A bit dated, as the women are seen to be decorative but not much else, but overall it needs to be seen again. Raw situations (blackmail, attempted murder) and bad guys that are really repellent. It's been said before but Staccato on the street is reminiscent of a classic James Dean photo. This is one that's been done with a lot of consideration for the production. The DVD collection has 20 episodes - why not all 27? Better yet screen it on cable!
