The story "Nighty Night" establishes that JoJo has a firm routine she follows before she goes to bed. In "A Circus Town Christmas," it seems as if she doesn't do any of it. Additionally, Goliath is nowhere to be seen, but is in the bed with in the morning.
JoJo: I remember the Santa Clown ever since I was a baby.
JoJo: I'm JoJo and this is snow JoJo. My pet lion Goliath and I have been making snow clowns.
JoJo: I wish I could have gotten you the new one. Mr. Tickle: No, you made the right choice, sweetheart.
JoJo: Santa. I want my family to have the best Tickle Family Tree-Topper ever. (She turns to the viewer(s).) That's my Christmas wish.
JoJo: Let me just see if the birdie's okay. She's sleeping really peacefully.
Peaches: Birds do love being on trees. Try putting her there, JoJo. JoJo: She likes it, Mom. She's cooing.
Mr. Tickle: Even without the Santa Clown, this is gonna be our merriest Christmas ever.
Characters: Tater, Skeebo, Mrs. Kersplatski, Trina, Dinky, Peaches, Croaky, and Mr. Tickle.
Unlike some kids might, JoJo doesn't ever give any name to the bird she rescues, although it does seem to be known as "Birdie."
Second holiday episode.
Premiered in a primetime block.
Christmas themed.
Bal Boa is notably absent throughout "A Circus Town Christmas." Although no mention is made of him, it's possible that his family doesn't celebrate the holidays, or celebrates something else, such as Hannukah.
This episode airs on Playhouse Disney only around Christmas.
Although several traditional Christmas pieces are used, Tchaikovsky is the only musician mentioned on close-captioning, when "The Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies" plays.
Mr. Tickle tells JoJo that the Santa Clown was passed down from his great-grandfather all the way to him and someday JoJo will give it to her kids. This indicates that JoJo will likely always be an only child.
A Christmas themed title display as used and Christmas images are shown for the closing credits in the background. Snowflakes are used as scene-changers throughout. The "Spotlight Moment" song includes fa la las in the background.
Birdie ends up wearing a Santa hat and when her babies hatch, she produces two smaller Santa hats seemingly out of nowhere and places them on their heads. Additionally, apparently by magic, she and her birdies are all able to fly up to the top of the Tickle family Christmas tree.
Although JoJo seems torn between the dilemma of helping out the little bird or giving a gift to her parents, it's worth noting that it doesn't seem yet as if JoJo has paid for any of her gifts. Somewhat surprisingly, none of her friends volunteer to sacrifice their gift and JoJo never even considers this idea.
