In "Circus Town Makeover," for the first time ever, somebody other than JoJo was featured for the Spotlight Moment. Jumping Jack asked JoJo what she learned, but she stated that she didn't learn nearly as much as the Spudinskis. So they were placed in the spotlight. They learned that eating healthy food and exercising makes you feel great and that when you feel great, you can do just about anything.
Mrs. Spundiski: I learned that eating healthy food makes you feel great.
Mr. Spudinski: And I learned that exercising makes you feel great too.
Tater: I learned that when you feel great, you can do just about anything.
Small Fry: (giggles)
Tater: The Spudinskis present to you the wonderful couchcycle.
Mrs. Spundinski: All the comforts of your comfy couch, but specially designed for the more active couch potato.
JoJo: If we're active every day and healthy food most of the time, then it's okay to have a small amount of sweets and treats every now and then.
Tater: (in confessional) I tried to be happy, but when Jumping Jack threw all our snazzle-pop, cheese pa-doodles and candy clowns into the garbage, I got kind of sad.
Jumping Jack: We're in the home of the Spudinskis, a family of couch potatoes who are actually stuck on their own living room couch. This, my friends, is what happens when you eat lots of unhealthy snacks and stay in one place too long. In the next week, you'll see what happens when I give the Spudinskis a total fitness makeover.
Jumping Jack: High five, buddy!
Tater: Uh, maybe later. I'm exhausted.
Jumping Jack: (singing) Are you kind of bored? / And don't know what to do? / It looks like you've got the couch potato blues.
Jumping Jack: Before you know it, you'll have the energy to get up off that couch and have some serious fun. Your lives will never be the same! And you'll be TV stars, especially you, Tater. I can already tell, you've got star quality.
Jumping Jack: Caught you on the news just now, JoJo, and came right over to help.
Tater: You mean, you're gonna get us off the couch?
Jumping Jack: No, dude, you are! It's something you gotta do yourself.
Nosey Rosie: I am standing in the Spudinski household, where the family of couch potatoes is sort of, kind of like stuck on the couch.
JoJo: (in confessional) And then things got really crazy. We called for help and the Spudinskis' living room turned into a --- well, a three-ring circus.
JoJo: (voiceover) Then I asked, "How come you weren't in school today, Tater? Are you feeling okay?" And that's when we heard about the big problem.
Tater: I'm fine. We're just kind of, sort of like stuck on the couch.
JoJo: Tonight's a really special night here at the Big Top. My friend Tater and his family are gonna be on a TV show.
The first names of Tater's parents are revealed on the program for the first time. They are Mrs. Ida Spudinski and Mr. Russ Spudinski.
Billy Bush and Kathie Lee Gifford appear in a special "Guest Starring" section of the credits for their roles as the voices of Jumping Jack and Nosey Rosie.
JoJo: We're all gonna be on my favorite TV show Circus Town Makeover, with my favorite TV star Jumping Jack.
Circus Town Makeover is essentially a parody of ABC's now-canceled Extreme Makeover. Hosted by Sam Saboura since its second season, this series features participants who are given a "fairy-tale" experience through plastic surgery and other makeover techniques. Though canceled, it was popular enough to spawn a spin-off, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which is focused on home improvement.
