Episode Summary

EDIT
Stranded on a remote island after their plane goes down, the gang encounter dinosaurs and human apes, created as a result of Dr. Madro's molecular reactor beam, which can change people and animals into any creature he chooses. To prove his point, he demonstrates his invention on Alexander, changing him into an ape, which he's already done to his former colleagues, guards, and the gang's pilot.moreless

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (5)

      • Goof: When the gang look up to see the dinosaur, the sleeves of Valerie's outfit are colored purple instead of pink.

      • Goof: The apeman who grabbed Alexandra while the band was performing had no sleeves on his uniform. But in a second shot, he does, and afterward they were gone.

      • Goof: Josie, Valerie, and Alan are in a prison cell with the standard jail bars. But when Alexandra and Melody rescue them, they knock down a thick steel door with no bars in sight.

      • Goof: When the group's gocar collides with Dr. Madro's flying vehicle in the music chase sequence, Valerie's skin complexion is briefly pale.

      • Goofs: When the pilot tells the gang the plane's been repaired, the collar portion of Josie's outfit is colored blue instead of white. Then when she and the girls offer to help Alexander with his hair problem, the skirt portion is colored the same shade of light blue instead of dark.

    • QUOTES (4)

      • Josie: Listen, I've got an idea. Why don't the Pussycats do a number?! That way, anybody looking for us can be guided by the sound.
Alan: That's a groovy idea, Josie. And at the same time, it'll keep any wild animals away.
Alexandra: For once, Josie's right. That horrible noise will keep anything away!
Melody: Gee Alexandra, (Chuckles) you really say the nicest things.

      • (After being placed in the molecular reactor chamber)
Alexander: You can't do this to me! I hate bananas and I get dizzy in trees!
Dr. Madro: Too late, my friend. In a moment, you will be changed into an apeman. (Laughs evilly as he activates the beam. However, Alex turns into a chicken) Something must have gone wrong.
Alexandra: No. That's my brother, the original Mr. Chicken. (Alexander clucks)

      • Dr. Madro: It is unfortunate that your friends got away, but there is no escape for you three.
Alan: Don't count your chickens before they're hatched!
Valerie: Yeah! Our friends will find some way to get us out of here.
Josie: You mean Alexander, Melody, and Alexandra?!?
Valerie: On second thought, we're doomed!

      • Police Officer: Thanks to you young people, everyone's been returned to normal and Dr. Madro and his mad schemes are out of business for good.
Alexander: There never was really any doubt that we could handle the situation. After all, under my skillful and fearless leadership...
Alexandra: (Shoves a banana into his mouth) You'd still be in that funny farm for animals if it weren't for me!

    • NOTES (2)

      • This is a rare episode where the girls perform without wearing their Pussycat outfits.

      • This is the only episode of the series that doesn't end with one of Alexandra's antics. Here, Alexander's the goat as the girls try to help him with his hair problem.

    • ALLUSIONS (2)

      • The title of this episode is a take on the French novel and eventual U.S. movie series Planet of the Apes.

      • (When Sebastian tries to catch the power emerald with a baseball glove, but gets it in his mouth and he swallows it)
Alan: Well, he's no Willie Mays, but he got it!

Reference to Major League Baseball great Willie Mays.
