A young man's death on a building site is the subject of a case being heard by Judge Deed. It is the contention of the prosecution that the owner of the site directly contributed to the death by having an unsafe work environment but the defense says that the wealthy man on trial was not in any way to blame and that the boy's death was nothing more than a tragic accident.
As far as the judge is concerned, this case is fairly routine, if very tragic, so he is surprised when the Lord Chancellor's Department takes a very close and active interest in it? Could it be that the defendant has high-powered political connections?
Meanwhile, while debating this matter, the judge's daughter, Charlie (Charlotte) presents him with a dog she has rescued from a laboratory where she insists animal cruelty is taking place.
As usual, an excellent episode with great work by the enigmatic Martin Shaw and a fine supporting cast.moreless
