Vincent: I just found this letter of acceptance for Dad. Why didn't he go to Yale Medical School? Maxine: The week your father was accepted, we found out I was pregnant with Peter. Your father was a pragmatist Vincent, and he loved his family very much. Vincent: So he wanted a family more than medical school? Maxine: Yes. Maxine: (to Eliza) You remind me of that kid. When you were a girl you were placed with that foster family in New Haven, do you remember? I had to work like hell to get you out of there, but you were strong. Eliza: How do you remember that? Maxine: You were a smartass, you made me laugh, you deserved better than them.
