hi, just learned about this from the JA section of the IMDb website...
so let's show enough clamour and support for a (long, lonng overdue) JA DVD !!
the rankings and numbers have gone up some since :-)
am sure with everyone's efforts here, we can pull JA up more notches, and more importantly, get the DVD released..!!

If you want this show to be released, go to
www.tvshowsondvd.com aand vote for it to be released. The
people who make the decisions to release these shows look at
the votes on this site to determine what shows to release. I've
done this with all the shows I love and encourage others to do
the same. I've tried to encourage the people on the China Beach
board to do the same for that show but sadly, they do not. But
c'mon guys, let's get this show released! After you vote, they
give you a breakdown of where that series is ranked as far as
votes go but it only shows it to you once and you can never access
it again. So post it on here so we all know where the show
stands. Also, you get an option to vote for what type of
release you want (season set, best of, or individual episodes)
please vote for the complete season set. These are the results

We can only hope and vote...but as a note Amy will be in the new Greys Anatomy spin off Private Practice! It will be nice to see here again -- not just David (he is now on Heroes!)!

I dont know about any of you, but I would love to see Tyne Daly in a new show. CBS was clearly not thinking when they cancelled the show. I've voted for the season set on DVD. Let's see how long it takes CBS to release it.

There are NO DVDs of JA, correct? Like, not even of Season 1? What's the problem!!?? It would sell really well. I don't get why it's not out.

Here's the response I got from Wiki Answers at Wikipedia as to why Judging Amy DVD's haven't yet been released:

"I believe one of the issues is the difficulty with rights to a lot of the songs that were used on the series. Musicians and song publishers demand a large sum of money up front for the release of DVD's that feature their music, which sends the studios into months and years of negotiations. Rather than receiving "royalties" for each DVD that is sold, they demand an outrageous sum of money up front for the rights to use the songs. Judging Amy is a series that used a lot of contemporary music, and I believe that is one of the major reasons why it has not been released in the US as of yet."

this is the same reason given for Ally McBeal..song rights. Surely a ton of shows have to have this problem??

Yep, lots of shows. Ally McBeal, Chicago, Cold Case, etc.

But, I heard in an interview with Amy that part of the reason is that the show is owned by Fox and CBS who don't get along and don't want eachother to make any money out of the release.
