Michael's insistence upon joint custody of Lauren after Amy requests an increase in child support payments dooms the divorce mediation process, and they each retain high-powered and aggressive attorneys; Maxine wants nothing to do with any celebration of her 60th birthday; Amy must decide whether a college senior should be charged as an adult for a fatal hit and run accident that occurred when he was fifteen; Michael's attempt to win Vincent over to his side in the custody battle ends badly; Amy hears a father's petition which contests the divorce agreement requiring him to pay for his daughter's college education; Maxine deals with combative divorced parents who can't seem to manage a peaceful exchange of their three small children.moreless

  • Maxine is against having a 60th birthday. Amy wants the family to give her a party. In the end Maxine doesn't show and Amy is upset. Maxine wants the family to sign her living will and Amy doesn't want to. She gives in and Maxine agrees to watch Amy's gifmoreless

    I liked this episode. The early episodes were done a lot different than the later seasons. The scene changes are very dramatic with old fashioned black and white photos that are supposed to possibly represent all the Gray family when they were young. Amy is always having some type of conflict and trying to do what is best for her mom..even if it is only her opinion. I like Maxines character and how strong she is in her convictions. I am glad however that after she has proven her point once again she does show a softer side by letting Amy show her slide show. Overall I think this was a good episode and really highlights the personalities of each of the family members.moreless
