Episode Summary

A novice hunter shoots a lion but fails to kill it, unconcerned with Jim's warning that a wounded animal is a danger to all in the jungle. Skipper and Tamba follow behind the hunter to protect their animal friends, but they are all soon cornered by the enraged lion, and it's up to Jim to save them.moreless

      • Chicken Rock at Lake Sherwood, CA, was used on the series' opening credits, with stuntman Paul Stader diving for Weissmuller. Many of the exterior jungle scenes were filmed at the MGM backlot, which still had its own jungle set and river. Jungle Jim's compound and much of the close-up foliage was on a studio sound stage inside a bank. Edit
      • In "Man Killer", a trainer had worked with Tamba for a week in preparation for the scene that required the chimp to pick up a rifle and fire it. Unfortunately, when it came time to film the scene, the chimp could smell the gunpowder in the rifle, refused to cooperate, and hid in the set's rafters. The scene was salvaged in editing. Edit
      • Tamba was played by a chimp named Neal from the World Jungle Compound in Thousand Oaks, CA. Neal also appeared in other television series such as Circus Boy and Rin Tin Tin. Edit
