Junior Mastermind

Show Summary

Junior Mastermind is a game show that premiered in 1999 on BBC1, a television broadcasting network in the United Kingdom. The series runs sporadically until 2007, and no episodes air at all in 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Each episode is 30 minutes in length and is based on the classic game show Mastermind, in which contestants compete for prizes by answering questions provided by a host. The primary difference with Junior Mastermind is the contestants are children, generally between the ages of 10 and 11 years. The host introduces them and the contestants select a topic from the available choices. Each contest consists of a single round of heats, during which the contestants are asked questions in their chosen topic. The winners of the heats advance to the finals, and these finalists compete against each other to determine an overall winner for each season. This series is hosted by Tristan Smith, a regular BBC presenter. It is is created by Bill Wright and produced by the BBC.
